MLB Game Day geltz it wrong

Slow news day. Join us at 10 for the latest on the cat stuck up a tree.

Tampa Bay sucks enough to break their site.
-
I follow the baseball as a Blue Jays fan but as I'm not American (or Canadian for that matter) I feel like I'm not really up on my hatred of other teams. What I've got so far is: I hate...
- The Yankees because they're the Yankees.
- Boston because of John Farrell.
- Tampa Bay and the Orioles because I feel it's expected as they are our divisional rivals. Hate would be a bit strong though....
Outside of the AL East I don't really dislike anyone else. Where would be a good place to start?
-
Don't ask me, I'm a Red Sox fan. Although I married a Tigers fan.

Giants. Definitely hate the Giants.
I will admit to a slight bias, here.

also, this.

It's rare I see a
threadtopic where I understand literally nothing about any of the posts. Well done guys

People getting all excited about other people hitting or kicking balls. Weee!

Well, you try weeing after being hit or kicked in the balls
-
That's just it, it's all the excitement of other people doing it!
-
That is an interesting app. What is it?
-
I used to play baseball when I was a lad but I didn't retain any of that sports knowledge so as far as I'm concerned there's nothing wrong with that screenshot. The guy likes nanb, which is obviously code for naan bread, which is awesome.

SPORTS_NOT_FOUND?

Living in Nebraska has inoculated me against any desire to watch sports. Football is the official state religion here.
-
ESPN's ScoreCenter app (since renamed to SportsCenter).
I now have theScore, I like it a lot better.
-
Do you mean the sport that you call football but should be called handegg, or football as in the sport that everyone else calls football (where feet regularly make contact with the ball)?
-
IDK and IDC.
-
You're thinking of the sport where people run for a bit, then walk a ton, then pretend that they were touched.
-
ESPN's ScoreCenter app (since renamed to SportsCenter).
Thanks. I'll check both of them out. Since I am no longer local to my preferred team, I have to follow them (to the very limited extent that I do) online. mlb.com is ok, but this seems more detailed.

Google translate fail. It detects that as Italian, and fails to translate it at all. It does give a reasonable translation after manually changing the language to Latin, though, so it's not a complete fail.
-
If you're talking about "First At Bat", it's Shane Victorino's first at bat for the day. Otherwise it would show his stats. Obviously the Orioles have batted a half inning, and one Red Sox batter has made it to 2nd base. But it's Shane Victorino's first time up to bat.

And he takes ball 1 straight down the pipe. Not really an Error'd, it's just funny what technology is doing to umpires.

Just use Google (not Translate) with quotes.

I use sport in the loosest possible definition of the word, but yes, that's the one. But they do use their feet with the ball far more than in handegg.
-
The translation was actually pretty good. "Provoke" and "attack" are sufficiently close in meaning that the overall statement is essentially unaltered. However, Googling the text did reveal one significant fact that simply translating it did not, that it is the motto of Scotland (and of the Order of the Thistle).

I have no clue what you're talking about. We're talking about football.

Ouch.

In proper football, you often get a fall like that if one person slightly brushes another's coiffure.
-
-
Weak.
Eh...I just went to google images and searched on football. That was the most interesting thing on the first page (most were just pictures of balls).
Yeah, hockey has some good stuff. You only get really good collisions in sports that require safety gear.

Of course, but some of those coiffures are pretty fucking serious:

Yeah, I think it was the Freakonomics guys that proved that there'd be fewer injuries in football if they didn't wear helmets.
-
I went to a street fight once and a hockey match broke out!

My dad has always called the two sports Canvas Hockey and Ice Boxing.

MLB At Bat is good for baseball. All the live scores plus lots of free video of the baseball.

lots of free video of the baseball.
Video of the baseball is boring. Video of the game that is using the baseball is less so, although to what extent depends on the quality of the game.
-
Really weak.

Back in my day, when you broke your leg you took a turn in goal.

Finally, a homeplate umpire who knows what he's doing....

Rugby football, Soccer football, American football etc. refer to games played on foot rather than horseback like Polo. Soccer is an abbreviation of association, in the very Eton style of taking a few letters from a word and adding "er" (see rugger)

Pedantry is a barrier to humour.

your face is a barrier to... um... original jokes

No argument here. It is pretty funny a face.
-
Why are there one more ball, strike, and out than necessary?
-
I do not understand what happened on the 4th pitch.
