If they knew anything they wouldn't stay on level 1 support.
You may remember a Dlibert comic where Dilbert is tasked with setting up a call center. He objects saying he won't be a part of subjecting innocent people to horrible working conditions. The boss says "Don't worry, we won't be paying enough to hire innocent people." At my last job, my office was next to a call center and I can confirm that. We outsourced the call center after a couple of employees conspired to cheat a customer out of his stock options.

This company has an intranet named iHub.
They're rolling-out a new version of it.
They put up promotional posters for the rollout.
The posters contain the quote, "It let me turn iHub into my hub!"
I want to die.

Diesel FTW. If I ever buy a car it'll be a diesel. Only problem is in the U.S. there are only two models of diesel car for sale that I know of which are not pickup trucks.
I currently have a diesel pickup and it's awesome in all ways. Even gets way better fuel economy than you'd expect from a vehicle of its size. Much better than my last pickup which was a little gasser with half the horsepower, half the passenger capacity, and half the curb weight.
-

That's a given for all Diesel vehicles - you get more mpg out of a Diesel than a gasoline powered car.Didn't drive long enough today to get a good measure, but it looks like I'll get some 52 mpg (US) out of it.
Mind you,I could get the car I had before that to 41 mpg and that was gasoline powered, bigger and had more bhp.
So we will see. But it will definitely save money for me - I average 25000 miles p.A. mostly for fun, so even small increases in mpg will make a difference.

Put up a poster of somebody running up to a router with arms spread wide with "iHubby!!!!" written on it.

Oh man I really wanna photograph the one about passwords being kryptonite. The hall's too busy and I don't want people seeing me taking photos all over, but it's hilarious as shit.
It says like, "Passwords are kryptonite to security" and then shows kryptonite being used to crack a safe? Or something? It's basically the most confused mixed-metaphor ever. Superman isn't mentioned.

Is your outside marketing similarly
creativeinsane?

I don't think we have any, it's a health insurance company.
And yes, the work environment is exactly as awful as you're imagining.

It's basically the most confused mixed-metaphor ever.
I'm confused. What is their point about passwords? Weak passwords are bad? Shared passwords are bad? Don't use passwords, use something like RSA keys instead?
-
It's Friday, this place should be mostly empty by 4. I'll try to get a photo of the poster.
Weak passwords are kryptonite. Like in the Superman comics. Right? Ok so far.
But then it has this diagram showing, what I can only describe as, a block of green glowing kryptonite magically cracking a safe.
As my co-worker said, "kryptonite doesn't work on safes, it only works on Superman." That's a pretty succinct way of explaining why the poster makes NO GODDAMNED SENSE.
-
You have a smart co-worker, I'm impressed.
-
Someone also, it may have been him, put a Post-It on the poster with like "HUH?" written on it. But it got removed.
-

Except that you've expressed the actual message behind the poster multiple times. So sensical or not, it seems to be working.

No 3-day weekend this week, but that makes it even more likely that I'll be AFK for most if not all of it, starting now.

Status: Finished watching Doctor Who. Wondering if Clara's whole "eww he's old" thing is a meta jab.
Also, the whole Paternoster Gang is... eeeh, I don't like them.

I loved the episode. The semi-constant re-referencing of Girl in the Fireplace was clever but getting a bit old.
-
Pretty drunk, had an awesome day today though. 3 day weekends rule!!!

I loved the episode.
Well, Capaldi's brilliant, the monster of the week was okay (though I expected something more for a starter), the new-old Tardis is cool, and it's good to finally steer DW into a bit darker territory (I'm a big Eccleston-over-Smith proponent).
Still, the Jenny/Vastra dynamic seems to get really old (Strax is kinda fun, though), Clara is more of the meta DW fangirl than anything in this (you know, those irritating "OMG Matt Smith is so hot" kind), and the title sequence is terrible.
Still looking forward to that Dalek episode. I loved the Eccleston one, wonder if that'll be something similar.

The main problem with diesels are the particulates they produce. Aside from that, they're a good, efficient engine type. They also tend to produce most power lower in the rev range, which is usually where you want it (unless you're really keen on racing).
-
Particulates aren't as much of a problem as most people think. The problem is the high-school-aged Dodgetards who think it's cool to blow black smoke everywhere and ruin the diesel scene for everyone else.
My Chevy doesn't smoke. Ever. It also has no pollution controls whatsoever, not even a catalytic converter. If it had a DPF, it wouldn't do much.
(There may be some invisible particulates but when I read "particulates" I mentally substitute "black smoke" because that's usually what people are talking about.)
-
Particulates aren't as much of a problem as most people think.
They're a problem, but more so when there are lots of diesel engines about. (Memory says “PM10” is the issue, but I might be way wrong there.) Given how relatively uncommon they are in the US, the particulate problem isn't going to be pressing for you. It was a much more urgent issue in larger European cities, but they've less problems with NOx pollution, as diesels don't produce nearly as much of that.
I drive a diesel (but don't commute with it; the motorway between where I live and where I work is crazy busy, so I take the express train).
-
It was a much more urgent issue in larger European cities,
It still is, and yes, it is PM10. So the cities created "Environment Zones" into which only vehicles are allowed that emit PM10 below certain thresholds. That can be a real problem for small vans as they are driven by builders, plumbers etc. Either buy a new van or buy a particle filter.
So when I switched from gas to diesel I made sure it was a car that has a particle filter as factory default.

Current status: thinking about atmospheric nucleation.
-
-
Maybe reading about cats being immune?
-
No, my wife is an atmospheric chemist, so I (sorta) know of these things. Non-visible particulates can easily trigger nucleation and create very much visible parts of the atmosphere.
