How many of regulars here actually fit the "geek" stereotypes?
-
Lol was at grandma's house in Wisconsin.
My grandparents have had broadband for nearly a decade. Hmmm.
-
My grandparents don't have a computer.
-
Seeing as you have internet supplied by what appears to be fraying pieces of string tied together, I'm not surprised that less technical people in your family are lacking in that category.
-
+1 lol because I am out of likes for another 4 (± dicksores rounding) hours.
-
My Grandma doesn't have Internet either. Or a cell phone. She keeps failing her written driving test because it's asking her questions about texting and driving. I don't think she even knows what texting is!

Neither do mine. 'Course, they've both been dead for 30-ish years.
-
My grandmas are both dead as well.

This thread got grim pretty quickly.

Look at the pretty bunny!

I believe I eschew most of the stereotypes. I am not smelly, unless I have been doing yardwork or something of the like. I like to cook and eat "good" food (I have received culinary training and cooking is one of my hobbies). I live with my wife and 3 year old son (though my office is in the basement, so I so spend a fair amount of time there). I am somewhat extroverted (my friends say that going out to lunch with me is like going to a restaurant with the mayor. I get to know people wherever I go.). I have a short trimmed beard that is in no way a neck beard. I am not morbidly obese, but like most mid-30's males I could lose a few pounds.
The only "geek" stereotypes I hold to is that I do have a server rack in my home, my office looks like NASA (6 monitors spread across two desktop computers, plus a laptop or two), computers outnumber mammals in the house by probably 5-1, etc.

Nothing wrong with being dead. Everyone will get there in the end. And it's a fact that the dead really don't text and drive at the same time. The undead, OTOH…
But not zombies. They just use social media.

I'm confused. Don't they have likes on the facebooks?
Also holy crap, you have nearly 3k posts O.o
-
I would like this, but I'm out for a few more hours.
-
Sure they do but it's all about the eyeballs they can get on adverts.
3k? I'm slipping. I used to average 5k posts a month elsewhere - and it's been more than a month here.

"Don't take life so seriously. It's not like anyone gets out alive."
That being said, my other grandmother passed away 5 years ago, and she did have broadband at the time.

We don't have much going on here other than Discourse-abuse.
I wish that more people would post code. CodeSOD is my favorite category both here and on the main page.
-
The forum in my location: 1.49 posts per day
This place: About 5 per day
I'm bad at participating in forums ...
-
I should find some in SMF's codebase, there's going to be some lurking. But the problem is some of the more interesting ones are actually done that way for a reason. Still... might do it anyway in a bit.
-
It's not a CodeSOD because it's bad, that category includes things are interesting because of how they're a kludge.
-
In which case some of the things I have in mind are totally suitable.
-

Yikes! I'm running at around 650 since dicksores started here, which is more than 12x my rate of 50-some on CS. And I thought I wasted too much time here.
-
I didn't say they were useful or qualitative posts, merely that my e-peen grew by 5k posts per month.
-
This old bird is 90+
She has basic cable and a land line.
