WTF is happening with Windows 13? And nothing else
-
Just taking this topic title first, it will be valuable when win 13 launches
-
Just for that I will most certainly intend to create a duplicately-titled topic later!
-
Microsoft is going to change their OS numbering scheme long before they get to this release. This thread will get reused for a totally unrelated topic by someone unwilling to pay the new thread tax.

I'm very surprised that they have gone this long.
Other than being afraid of the number 9 their version numbering has been normal since Windows 7 circa 2009. They are long overdue for a new name that makes no sense.

Somebody will not be able to resist the urge to at least add an "AI" somewhere.
"Artificial Intelligence Deployment System for Windows" or something.
-
@LaoC there’s already AI coming to Windows. Apparently it’ll be smart enough to know what files should be backed up.
Your files are right where you left them.

"Artificial Intelligence Deployment System for Windows" or something. We’ve had Office .NET and Visual Studio .NET, but curiously no Windows .NET.
Maybe Windows CoPilot for Workgroups would be on brand.

In which lab will HIV-Win be developed and released?

You're
The Microsoft marketing department demands that "Windows" must always come first in the name.
So it would have to be "Windows Deployment System for Artificial Intelligence" or something.

"WDSAI" is just not as easily recognizable

We also haven't had a Windows 365 or a Windows 360.
Nor a Windows Series X. (Microsoft hops on the naming-things-X bandwagon again and releases Windows X?)

@Arantor Well, shit.
Why don't we have a thread for that?

It was in the cloud and evaporated when it tried to fill the container. Or something.

Windows DSAI. Haven't you been paying attention?

Windows AIDS works as well as the original suggestion of AIDS for Windows.

If you trick Windows XP to think it's not a workstation OS, it boots up as "Windows .NET Server 2002".

They'll probably do Windows Copilot Enterprise first. They were already pitching it (or something with a similar enough name that I can't remember what it is) last month as "coming soon", at least to our IT department.
-
At least they learned from Tesla not to call it Autopilot?
-

It'll be more like the "Jesus is my Copilot" crowd where you flex about having it but ignore everything it instructs you to do?

Yeah they already have Autopilot. It's basically cloud-configured OOBE.

Because the Tesla driving on Autopilot crashed.

They chose to not go with that name, but they were planning to do so.
I'd like to think that they backed down partially because every developer at the time complained that it was impossible to search for .NET things, but I know that Marketing wouldn't have cared.

Not desktop ones, but we did have Windows CE .NET.
