@dangeRuss I already made that joke, and it's the Marines who traditionally dine on crayons.

I dare you to go on a US Army base (or better, a bar near a US Army base) and say that real loud.

That would be pretty funny to watch, actually.

I know a retired Ranger who would have some fun with that... (I think he retired as a Master Sergeant)

Items 2 and 3 on the YouTube side are incorrect.
Depends on what your "system" is. If it's an Android phone, IME they're true.
You are not forced to go to YouTube
To "go" there, no, but the YouTube app is indeed forcibly installed on your system.
Removing it simply involves deleting a bookmark from your browser.
You can't (at least on all non-jailbreaked phones I've had) entirely remove the YouTube app, the best you can do is disable it.
Depending on which side of the fence you're on.
On one side is "Do everything on your phone", where your points are entirely correct and valid.
And on the other side is "Phones are for talking to people and doing computer stuff on a phone is stupid, retarded and stupid".

No, the U.S. Navy is so large that it has its own army. That's the Marines.
(And the Marine Corps in turn is so large it has its own air force.)

So does the Army. And the Air Force used to be part of the Army. Basically, every branch of the US military has its own aviation section to support its primary mission (except, of course, the Air Force, for which aviation is the primary mission).

What about the Space Force?
-
@Benjamin-Hall I thought about that, but I didn't mention it because I don't actually know the answer and to research it.
-
@HardwareGeek it is part of the Department of the Air Force but it is technically its own service, and relies on the US Air Force for non space air support from what I can tell.

@Arantor and what does John Malkovich think of all of this?

I have no idea, I don’t know enough Malkovich films to know which one you’re probably referring to…

Hint: It starts with Space and ends with Force.

@topspin Aran3 may need installing some updates to his command center
-
Reading the episode summary on Wikipedia suggests he may have had reservations but broadly thought the whole space thing was neat.
As for updates, I don’t bother with Netflix, not enough on there I actually want to watch to subscribe for the chance to maybe find other things.

Would still work on the door. Plus I bet you can embed the chip and maybe the battery in the handle.

why would I scratch my own car door? I hadn't unlocked a car by physically inserting a key in the door for 20 years until that one rental in Greece two years ago. The extra meters I walked just to return to the door to lock the car is staggering.

Well when the battery in the key fob runs out, you can actually open the door using the key. Also if the battery in the car runs out.
Now as far as actually starting the car, they're all push to start these days, but you can put the fob where the car will read it, if the battery runs out.

I think most fobs actually include a physical key hidden inside it (at least, mine does and so does at least another one from someone I know). Of course you need to know how to take apart your fob to access it, and how to remove the cover on the door to access the keyhole, but that's feasible.
That aside, I never had a car, nor a fob, running out of battery to the point where opening the doors wouldn't work, without having had ample warnings before (other systems in the car not working, for the car battery, and a warning from the car about the fob, for the fob's battery).

I found out my still in manufacturer’s warranty car had a bad 12V battery when I came back from a 5 day business trip to find out I couldn’t get into the car with the keyless entry. Called the warranty roadside assistance and they were like “can you open the car with the backup key?” and I was like u wot m8?
At least the replacement battery seems to have solved the problem of “have to drive the car daily or jump it” lol.

I have but that's because I had the key in my back pocket and was sat on it for several hours apparently with the button(s) continuously pressed.

@Gustav said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:
the latter happened to me once because the fob had non-rechargeable battery.
Same in my fob, but the car warned me beforehand. Though there's a minor here (sadly in line with everything else in the car world), namely that the car just said "problem with the fob" (kind of like the engine light turning on...). So I went to the dealer, which happened to be close by, where they told me "oh yeah that's the battery" and changed it. I could have done it myself if the message had been a tiny bit more explicit (but then I wouldn't have gone to the dealer, I guess... ).
Still, maybe I'm just lucky that my car detects that rather than silently failing one day. /

Anyway, funny stuff guyzzz!22!!

My car from 2020 (brand new model) still has old-fashioned turn key to start. But it's also built to be as simple as possible by the looks of it. Utility over flair and all that.
