The orange tabby’s brush with potential tragedy happened on Nov. 16 when the bag was checked from JFK to Atlanta for a connecting flight to Melbourne Orlando International Airport in Florida, officials said.
You knew Florida was going to be involved somehow.

@boomzilla linked article in The Cat Status Thread that said:
While “none of my current cats are suitcase jumpers,” Houpt said she takes no chances and packs her bags on an elevated rack.
… given adult cats can jump at least two metres (six feet) high I don't think it helps much.

First 20 seconds fit this topic. The rest fits... somewhere else on this forum, I'm sure of it.

@boomzilla I officially acknowledge, excommunicate, and anathematize this Popecat.
-
@Gribnit what if I told you the cat's initials are M.P.?
-
@boomzilla can't hear you too anathematized

We got a hyperactive kitten. He already earned an
titleepithet “Samuel the Downthrower” because, unlike our previous cats, he wasn't very careful walking around on various elevated surfaces. Here he is throwing down decorations from the Christmas tree (fortunately we have big heavy stand so the tree won't even budge under him):Also three weeks ago he fell from the stairs about 4 meters and smacked his nose hard enough to crack his palate (it required stitching). It prompted me to add cat guard rails—the guard rails were built with humans in mind, so a cat could easily go underneath and fall, but all the previous cats just managed to be careful enough there.

Seems someone is actually trying to sell monitor stands on Amazon in this way:
Now somebody only needs to invent a device to look past the cat...

That's cheating.
Also, cats might want to be helpful and claw that headset off your face so you can actually see and pet them.
