@Tsaukpaetra if you're lucky enough to have the right kind of botfly lay eggs in your eye, this can be even more the case.

How?
Why?
The other way is a lot worse, isn't it?

Only true if there is a cow turd right there on Monday

If you have a mountain bike, the other way is much more fun! And Monday is appropriate since you'll be crashing into the ground.

Dude's cycling all week! OK, two days of hike-a-bike, but still: bliss.

Now I kinda want to put files that change the cursor position and color such that doing an
ls
will magic the directory into a kind of "category" listing....

Exactly.
I use this to make my terminal beep and/or color-code output per regex. This ls approach must take into account the columnar layout, or be agnostic of it - otherwise it looks similar to the nice clean fun that is making a query runner output an HTML table.
You should definitely do this, and also publish it.

I'll send it to the Russians.

ls
has special handling of printing filenames with escape sequences in precisely because this used to be a significant problem back in the early 1990s. It was awesome back then to do anls
and get a message scrolling across the title bar of your terminal. Now, I'm glad it doesn't happen.Do
echo *
instead.

That's just annoying. Reprogramming the keyboard by

Yeah ok. That was broken beyond belief but at least it was fun in its own way.
