Firefly Reboot

How is this the first time I'm hearing of this?
-
And so the assault on all good things past continues
-
Here's what to expect from the Disney reboot.
Finishing at least one season?
-
Eh. Disney. Chances are that they'll smooth away anything that might have been interesting in hopes of appealing to a broad audience.
-
As long as it comes up correctly after being power-cycled, it'll be fine.
-
@dangeRuss "from-disney"
Oh fuck.

They've made some good stuff. I haven't watched most of the Star Wars or Avengers movies, but I hear they're good.
Problem is if they tone it down too much it might not end up on the main Disney+ platform, then again the original ran on Fox, so plenty of stuff was already censored.

Yeah, my OP could go either way:
- Oh, fuck: they Woked it
- Oh, fuck: I'm missing it because it's only on Disney+ and I ain't payin yet another subscription fee!

The current category does not allow me to explain how wrong you are about the Disney Star Wars movies.
The Marvel movies is the same three movies over and over at this point. Every movie where they introduce a new character is the same, every sequel is the same, and every team up movie is the same.
Problem is if they tone it down too much it might not end up on the main Disney+ platform, then again the original ran on Fox, so plenty of stuff was already censored.
Is the target platform Disney+? Remember, they also own Hulu, which seems like it would be a more natural home for that kind of show.

From the article:
However, Disney plans to reboot the series as an exclusive for its streaming platform Disney+. Disney had acquired the rights to the franchise after their 2018 acquisition of Fox.
Also, Joss Whedon will not be involved and the article speculates that it will be a more family friendly version of the material.

Guess I need to edit my reply above to include .
My day obviously started off too much on an optimistic note.

Here you go, although you're not going to like it. Most of the material is me yelling at you rather than anything to do with Star Wars. The Absolute State Of Star Wars Movies Sucking. (, duh)

Reading the article before mouthing off?
Wow, the rules really are different outside the garage.

Don't worry, you only have to read the article to reply to the post. Reading before linking to it is still strongly discouraged

Hardly surprising that Joss Whedon is not involved. There's been enough stories out since that Disney doesn't want him near them at this point in time.
However I don't think making the material more family friendly is conducive to the atmosphere Firefly actually was good at portraying.

I feel that we like firefly because of what it could have been. It was a universe full of potential for entertaining fuckups with characters of dubious morality at the helm. I doubt Whedon could have pulled it off, and Disney sure as shit won't. Harden your heart to the incoming disaster... Now let me tell you about the WOT.

@DogsB There's definitely some good stuff in the Firefly series (especially if watched in order) but yes, I think there's some 'season 1 was ok-good, but it would have been better'.
I like to think the mystery wrap-up that was the movie would have been somewhere around season five.

Lessee, without reading the articles, things that will be different about the reboot:
-
No Shepherd Book (or some arbitrary replacement actor in the role)
-
Actual Chinese people in a universe where the Chinese are supposed to be a major force
-
At least one actual Reaver apparent in every episode. Maybe even a single "good" Reaver who joins the main cast.
-
