Just say “vaccinated” and be done with it.
But I'm not.
Because you didn’t get the chance to or because you don’t want to?
-
@topspin I don't want to but in a different way than your average redneck homeschooled confederate-flag-waving anti-vaxxer girl doesn't want to.

You start sounding mighty Youropean there. Be careful before they send you back.

So apparently, all popular dating apps and sites now allow you to specify whether you're vaccinated or not. On one hand, I don't want to lie on profile since the truth will come out sooner or later and that's game over. On the other, I don't want to date the kind of girl who proudly displays on her profile that she's not vaccinated.
If it's "allow", rather than "require", the inference is, I think, inevitable: "don't ask, don't tell".

er is shit topic is .If you have to ask that, you're doing it wrong.
(Coincidentally, as far as I know Grindr doesn't have a vaccination status field yet. But you can link your twatter.)

Not choosing is a choice too. Let's say 90% of people in there have selected one or the other (I don't know the real number but looking at the pandemic craze I don't find 90% unlikely). If my profile is missing that info, how would that impact my matches?
-
@Gąska I don't know a thing about dating sites, but I know a bit about UI and human nature, and therefore I'm pretty confident in saying that your premise is missing too much information to allow a valid answer to your question.
For example if the vaccine status is just a combo with three choices (yes/no/
not-filledfile_not_found), in the middle of a form with many other similar combos (for... whatever a dating site is asking you... stuff like smoker, I guess?) then it's likely most people who don't care about this information would fill it without second thought. Those people who don't care, well, don't care, so they probably don't look at this detail on other profiles and thus not having it wouldn't affect your prospects.Unless there is, for example, a filter based on that and the default value of it is one of the choices (rather than file_not_found), in which case people who don't care would probably keep that filter mostly because they don't care (notice a theme here?), and it would affect your prospects.
Then again maybe (probably!) that information was added by people after they created their profile (unless most people active today only joined in the last 6 months?). So do people update their profile very often or not? If they update often, we're back to the first point above, it might not matter. If not, they made an effort to add this information, so not being the same as them might affect your prospects. Unless they only added it because the dating app nagged them repeatedly with one-email-a-day until they filled it, and then maybe everyone lied because they felt there was only one good answer (except for a small vocal minority who are probably not your dating target, judging from a previous post).
So yeah, basically, there is no way to tell whether filling it or not will affect your prospects.
Or, if you really worry about lying or not and really care about this dating thing, you could... you know... just get vaccinated and not have to lie about it.

On Bumble it's a sticker on top right of your profile picture. Dunno about Tinder but I'd guess it's similarly visible.

On a dating app? Considering the only way to score dates there is to have a good profile, I'd imagine everyone jumped to edit page the nanosecond the update was released. Every man, at least. And regardless, considering that according to published stats, 90% of women only ever match with the same 10% of men, you don't even need majority of profiles to be updated to be completely screwed over on this.
So yeah, basically, there is no way to tell whether filling it or not will affect your prospects.
Just like with everything else about dating. So many variables that affect it and you never get any feedback. It's even worse than job search.

If that's true, why do you even bother?
-
@Zerosquare I don't. But I occasionally think about trying it out anyway. And always find a new excuse not to.

I on the other hand think it wont matter at all, women will still only like the top 5% of looks, and will still not bother with reading the profile.

Wow, things must be very different in the straight world. The amount of profiles I see that are blank, useless, or contain only something like "nobody reads this anyway, just ask if you have questions" is mind-blowing. At least to me, who thinks what the fuck else would I read if not your profile?! And I usually don't reply to empty-profile picture-less ghosts out of principle. And lack of interest.

That sounds more like it. I don't understand it since I always read profiles (at least up to the point I lose interest), but a large number of people seem not to.

And then they complain that "it's not working!!".

God, I fucking hate tinder. I'm not good looking and I fucking hate text even more. Whoever thought that could form the basis of a relationship should be shot. Have you used tinder could be a filter question for me from now on. That and asking for their views of Oxford commas would have saved me a lot of heartache.
