Not that it matters this year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah it's been occasionally frustrating being without a printer because the office is closed.
I think I’ve been to the office roughly 4 times in the last year, twice to pick up new hardware and twice to print personal stuff.

Status: I discovered another possible contributing factor to why my vehicle wouldn't start (discussed in another thread where it was completely OT; I don't remember which one). I opened the hood to connect the battery charger, and although I didn't see anything chewed, the top of the battery was covered with rodent droppings. Maybe, even if I don't have a reason to drive anywhere, I should run the engine once in a while just to discourage would-be squatters from taking up residence in the engine compartment.
Also, when I connected the charger, the total charge of the nominally 12V battery was 1.6V.

I've had to start doing this. Once every other week or so I'll click on my remote starter and let it run for 10-15 minutes or so just to keep the battery topped up since I almost never leave the house anymore.

@HardwareGeek said in The Official Status Thread:

Yeah, that's usually indicative that the battery is now completely shot if memory serves...
-
@Tsaukpaetra Well, it now shows 11.9V with the charger off after about 1 1/4 hours on slow charge. Whether it will hold that charge remains to be seen. I'm going to leave it on the trickle/maintenance setting. We'll see what happens.

Does it offset the lost frustration from not having to deal with printers?

I hope the $440 of gardening supplies yield more than $1 worth of tomatoes this year.
Status: Potting soil delivered yesterday. Planters delivered this evening. 18 bags of potting soil in planters. (Mostly full; there's room for probably 2 or 3 more bags, which I'll add after this settles and compacts a bit.) Tomato seeds not planted, because expecting heavy rain most of the week, which would probably wash the seeds out.
Tired. This is more physical labor than I've done since we moved 14 months ago.
Hand is sore. Whiskey half-barrels came without drainage holes. No biggie. Grab my cordless drill and the first spade bit I find. Brr. Brr. Done. Um, no, not quite that easy. I was a bit too casual about it at first. The bit bound in the hole, and spun the drill out of my grasp. My hand did not like that. But I wasn't as quick to learn as I should have been. I did this several times before I figured out that maybe I should be more careful, hold the drill more tightly, and brace the drill against the side of the barrel so that when the bit binds, the barrel stops the handle from spinning out of my hand and trying to sprain my thumb.

Personally, I wouldn't rely on a battery whose voltage had dropped so low. You don't want to be stuck somewhere because of a bad car battery.

Oh, I have vast experience with that. I can probably do a jump start in under a minute (once I've found somebody willing).

I didn't pay attention to your avatar at first and due to its colour it looked like @error's, so my interpretation of this post was somewhat tinted by that.

Status: I hate supporting Mobile Safari almost as much as I hate supporting IE 11.
For instance, there's this bug
First reported in 2008. Is it fixed? Nope. Not even accepted. And desktop safari does the right thing (as do other webkit browsers). But mobile safari is the IE 6 of the modern age. Without the "killer features". Except that it has monopoly over iOS devices.
It sounds like the user-agent stylesheet has a default opacity that you have to override. That's a pain in the ass, but I wouldn't consider it a bug per-spec, and every browser does something stupid and unique with the user-agent styles.
The first step in styling a new site is to always import a standard "reset" (to remove all default styles) or "normalize" (to set default styles consistently across browsers) stylesheet.

The fact that it doesn't respect
color
is absolutely a bug.text-fill-color
is supposed to be subordinate tocolor
--setting the latter should make the former ignored. But it isn't. So you have to set both, using vendor prefixes that everyone else has dropped long ago.

Apple ought to put the exact iOS version in the vendor prefix so that you can “easily” tailor your look and feel. Because who doesn't want to have weird bugs parachuted into their code from outside?

Dominant/submissive
Though we're both switches so we both give each other orders. That's pretty unusual even within the lifestyle.

Status Just got official permission from the product owner (who also happens to be the CEO) that we're free to ignore Internet Explorer bugs and that we're no longer supporting IE in our new product, to the extent that the existing product (which has some awkward coupling we're trying to break) doesn't get totally trashed by doing so.

status taking an optimistic look at the current set back. Mostly because we're barreling along at 100mph in the wrong direction so a set in the opposite direction is probably a step in the right direction.
Leg is much better today so I might actually get to run tomorrow. No murders yet.

Can't it update itself to the right version? Virtually all of maven is componentized that way (and it is in fact difficult to stop it from downloading the whole damn world anyway, at least not until you''ve got the local cache populated).

If they let you in. It doesn't make the news much, but they've had one of the strictest COVID lock-downs in the country. Absolutely killed the tourist industry. Are they opening back up? (Please no opinions about whether policies are good or bad, just facts of how much the policies have changed or are changing.)

@dkf I know nothing about Maven, I just have this project I'm trying to build but I get a weird runtime error (SymbolException or something) that mentions some "compiler plugin" with "3.7.0" in path.
Also, it seems like version 3.7.0 - the one I probably need - has been completely disappeared from Maven official website. Every single dot release from 1.0 to 3.6.3 is available, then it jumps to 3.8.1 with nothing in between. What the fuck even.
Also also, I found the compiled release of the project in question so I don't need to build it anymore. Please stop sending help.
-
Partially lost vision in my right eye for several minutes. Slightly alarmed.

I can see it listed as being on Central:
so Maven should be able to find it.
Nobody in their right mind installs plugins manually into Maven if they can possibly help it. It's possible but really don't. (The Apache site itself is inconsistent on what it has, but does have the 3.7.0 source release in there. But virtually nobody wants that.)
Also also, I found the compiled release of the project in question so I don't need to build it anymore. Please stop sending help.
Now that I know I'm not helping, I can safely keep opining in ways that amuse me.
