This is exactly backwards though. Throw a frog into boiling water and more than likely it will be dead before it can do anything. Place a frog in cold water nad slowly heat it (no matter the rate at which it is heated) and the frog will jump out when it gets uncomfortable. This will occur long before it is anywhere near being boiled.
Sorry, but I thought that all educated people know about the physiological phenomenon of the frog. The frog reacts only to changes, if they are slow, then it does not receive any signals. As a child, I checked it myself - I slowly brought a twig to a wild river frog, then slowly pushed it with this twig - it was like a doll.
And educated people also know that you can safely stick your finger not only into boiling water, but also into red-hot metal. And you can walk on hot coals. And keep the flame in your mouth. And to eat glass ... It's just physiology.
Sorry.
Did you try to slowly boil a frog though? Because they're is a study that says you are wrong.

You know, I'm honestly surprised you even got that far in Internet Explorer on XP.
Let's try K-Meleon!
Y'all say that I had the captcha, right? Wait, what does it look like on a reasonable browser?
I could understand difference in appearance, but completely disappearing things? Where's the footer?
Let's try MyPal!
Eyyy, there's the captcha! Sadly, registration itself is impossible because...
Whoops. So close! But if I magically had an account, can I log in?
Eyyy!

I would like to work on Windows 98, the new systems did not increase my capabilities in any way. I know there are enthusiasts in the world who are trying to maintain Windows 98. But the future does not belong to them. And not to you if you're alone trying to run new browsers on older computers.
I am using Mypal.
Are you proposing to start a separate movement to finalize everything new? This is not a bad idea ... But why is it necessary to overcome the difficulties that we create for ourselves? Perhaps I know some of the answers. Yes, that's not a bad idea ...

Well, blue screens were quite a bit nicer. That's actually really profound, if you think about it.

It is not a proposal, it is the natural state of things.

Without strife there can be no progress.

I didn't cook a frog, but I see how they cook me and other people - if you cook slowly, you won't have the strength to jump out.

Slow-cooking is absolutely correct for human flesh. However, nobody with any sense relies on the heat to achieve immobilization. A surprisingly light wire, when employed in cognizance of the leverage of the skeleton, suffices to ensure that the rather long cook time of whole long pig is achieved with a minimum of fuss.

@Tsaukpaetra Okay. There are two of them and there are two of us. But the horse (the population of the forum) is not run by us. We have two options (like that German) - either to fight, or to adapt their actions. Maybe war would be the best option?

You are a neuron, you are a separate node in the network - doesn't a neuron fire when a signal threshold is exceeded? or is the threshold not yet exceeded? or are you waiting for us to be slowly brewed? Do you think that you will have a second life, a third ...?

@tania_v said in NodeBB for older browsers:
Let's try to look at a specific example. More progress will be made on this site soon...
Let's continue our analysis. Why are those 2 people (programmer and manager) doing what they are doing?
It seems correct to say that only 10% of complaints can be made against a programmer; everything else should be addressed to a manager.
Observing societies, we see that in human society there is no distinguished special individual, as is the case with bees or ants. But in human society there can be pyramids of power, at the top of which there is a separate individual. We say that this is bad. Because an individual human individual, through his great influence, does not make wise management, but the one that he does best (we already know that an individual person does not act with his mind)

And what to do? In reality, we create a few more pyramids around the main pyramid - for counterweight. We change the main pyramid from time to time. We can abandon the main pyramid altogether in favor of several equal pyramids.
We had and still have terrible lessons about what the presence of the main pyramid can lead to - the pharaoh can rule not only throughout his life, throughout all the lives of his generations, but also his mummy is able to come to life.
-
And what to do? We can try to make a referendum, a vote. So that the manager cannot make decisions alone. But will he agree to be subordinate?
-
And what to do? We can demand the creation of a supervisory board of the forum - but why a supervisory board for those who run the forum today? will they allow that?
-
But is there a problem? Is it such a big problem that it needs so many words? No, this is just a small drop here. But this is a drop of that rain, which is pouring every day more and more, which blurs the roads ahead for us.

Tsaukpaetra offers to make umbrellas. This does not make me very happy - maybe itβs better to stop peeing on our heads?

I'm afraid. Yesterday the doctor watched, listened to the patient and treated him. Today he needs some tests and only half of the patient. Tomorrow he will only treat instrument data. What if all the devices break down?

That way the rest of us can get into this nonsense with a minimal amount of effort.

I was a volunteer. Helped a girl who was attacked and injured by bandits.
Then my psyche broke down. When I saw how hard it is, how scary it is for some to die - at a time when the world around could help applying only 0.000001% of their capabilities, that go into the contents of the toilet bowls.
Humanity is insane.

It is difficult to quickly get answers to questions that are several thousand years old. So don't be discouraged. Small regular beacons will then merge into a single light of truth.
One of the beacons - humanity is definitely doing obvious nonsense.
Let's take a look at the automotive industry. It makes cars that can last 50 years. But they only work for 5 years. Because new models are emerging. And the old ones (5 years old) are being recycled. By the way, not only old and new ones that could not be sold.
What is the frequency to see sheer madness? Buy a car in the morning, and in the evening for recycling? That car that can work for 50 years.
Don't you want to think about it? Don't you want to think that this madness is draining resources that could save millions of people? But that this is definitely insane - can you admit it?

There's no such thing as a "military camp of free people."
In a free society, members of the military have to suborn some of their individual rights for the common good of society.
This forum is closer to a mix between a debating society and an open mic night than it is to a military camp.
-
Why don't they want to close car factories? Because then many thousands of people around the world will stop receiving money. Yes, they produce a lot of unnecessary, even harmful - but this is not their fault. Nobody planned the economy, there was a distortion in the economy, and no one wants to cure it.
We need leaders like Thatcher. She was not afraid to close the coal mines. She was not afraid of difficulties. Thatcher was and remains a rare occurrence. Unfortunately. The world is waiting for the madness to grow.

military camp of free people.
Now that's one I can't let pass, sorry.
"Military camp" and "free people" don't belong in the same sentence. "Military camp of free people" is an oxymoron for anything other than very nebulous values of "free".
The military is as close to a machine made of human components as possible. Individuals in a military camp are - ideally - no more free than ants in an anthill. The military telos is to subsume the individual efforts of hundreds, thousands, millions into one vast organism that may act with force greater than the sum of its parts. The price of this might is the individual agency of its constituent parts, for much the same reason that cells in our bodies aren't free to do their own thing - when they do, we call it "cancer".
I believe Marx had observed that the capitalist mode of production attempts to introduce military-style relations into the economic sphere, with the result being alienation of labour from the fruits of that labour?
Were you thinking of a Cossack stanitsa perchance?

They have, but not as a military.
Joining the military means you have to give up some of your freedoms.
-
@tania_v You can have people be free before they join the military, and after they leave. What you can't have is them being free whilst they're in the military - except in an abstract sense.
They may be essentially free, but I'm an existentialist when it comes to those things.
Besides, "defence" and "military" are not synonyms.
