Because . . . . new threads are free and why the fuck not.

This is Mark Jackson's basketball card from the 1990-91 season. In background are Lyle and Erik Menendez, who murdered their wealthy parents and went on a spending spree which apparently included court-side tickets at New York Knicks games. This picture was taken after they murdered their parents but before they were arrested. Both brothers were eventually sentenced to life in prison.

You can see that the shoes of the closer one don't fit with the (visible) ones of the other people on the front row, and that they don't belong there…

Check out the Error Level Analysis for it too...
Definitely not doctored in any way.

You'd think it would be easy to find a picture of that card that doesn't show the two of them.

Welcome to the Mandela effect!

Why? Unless someone's doctored every one being sold on eBay, they're on the actual card.

@loopback0
Because the first two replies cast doubt on whether the original picture was genuine.

No. I noted that at least one of the two circled individuals looked out of place, as if he didn't know that you're supposed to dress up neatly when sitting on the front row for that games in that venue. Given how I've been told he obtained the money, this isn't surprising. But it's interesting that the feeling that “something isn't quite right” can be down to shoes. His headwear is also a bit off, but that's not necessarily so strange.
The brother (whose shoes we can't see) looks less out of place. Unhatted, shirt with collar but no tie, all quite possible (if perhaps eccentric for the date and venue).

But I was certainly baffled by the person next to them, looking like either a ventriloquy figure or the victim of a cut-and-paste job. Is that his right ear?

It's not one of these things that's stated out loud. Typically if you have the money to afford those seats, you already know the rules. There's all sorts of social shit in life that's like that.

It's a kid. Kid can't sit still, so kid stands up and turns around. Probably about to sit down again.

Having learned these rules, I can now comfortably forget them, since I will never need to know or use them.
-
@HardwareGeek And you will recall them the next time you need to find your keys.

Oh, so it's that fashion thing again. He looks dressed to go to a wedding. And has very conservative parents.
-
@Watson Exactly. There's a group of styles of clothing that marks a person out as coming from a family that has serious inherited money (i.e., not just do you have money yourself, but your parents had money and so on). Moreover, the front row seats for the game are apparently considered prestigious and so it takes quite a bit of money to get one and shows off to other people that you have money. Primate social status displays without sniffing each others' crotches!
Dressing like someone who can only afford the back rows of the seating while being on the front, that points strongly to someone who only just got a lot of money and doesn't really know how to spend it sensibly. Which fits the profile of the killers extremely well.
By contrast, that kid has been dressed up fancy by his parents. Most people only bother with that for weddings and funerals, but that family did it for a sportsball event…

It might not be so weird, but...
