The second one isn't has distinctive as the first one. But that's okay, knowing the target audience.

I made transparent versions, just for fun

No friggin way this is going to work:
-
@hungrier FWIW I recognized it without zooming it.
-
@Zecc Me too but only because I'd literally just seen it fullsize in another thread.
-
And some by @Zecc

I made a new one, just in time to miss the latest update:

EDIT: For fuck's sake, NodeBB. I've tried to submit 4 times because it appeared not to work, then when I refreshed apparently it did.

@topspin Did it give this error?
If so, known bug.

Probably, it gave a red toaster but I couldn't read it.
(Using a custom CSS snippet from @djls45 (thanks) to make the dumb toasters go away that say "You cannot vote your own post" and other spam like that, but unfortunately it also hides real errors.)
-
-
@hungrier I was thinking of doing that one. Good job.

Also: bonus points for explaining why a toaster needs a speedometer on the front.

Possibly ironic.

It's internet-connected and shows the download (or upload) speed?
-
A two-fer of hard to see ones:
-
Low effort attempt, there's no way this one will be visible at emoji size
-
spend time outlining a transparency mask around a Mars Attacks alien
it looks like nothingpaste a blurry Game of Thrones screenshot
it's immediately recognizeable
-
So are we really going doing all sorts of memes?
-
@Zecc It opens up some mix and match potential
-
-
are we going to add the 58,309 custom emojis currently on ravenvale.lubar.me?

I like the fade effect I've created in Philosoraptor's background. I'm thinking of redoing the others with this effect as well. What do you guys think?

Do they work on a dark theme?
Either way, grumpy cat and whatever the last one is are definitely worse off. The Willy Wonka one does become slightly easier to read on the light theme.
-
Looks ok
-
@hungrier
It's as readable as it is on a white background
-
@JBert said in Emoji testing:

I use a dark theme. Take of that what you will.
Grumpy cat does not have this effect because I figured his ears would become lost on a dark theme.
-

Actually I'll tell you.
As part of my workflow of erasing the background from an image, I toggle between three background colors: black, white and orange. It makes it easier to spot "lost pixels" which may be harder to spot otherwise.
So when I upload an image I already have a pretty good idea of what it will look like over a dark theme and a light one (and an orange one, I guess).
-
@Zecc I do a similar thing, usually with bright magenta

is a JSON document that weighs in at 15 megabytes, so I'm not linking to it for obvious reasons but you're free to grab it and do whatever.
