I need to adjust how Master Server handles VMs it can't actually destroy. Yay notification spam!
Edit: On the other hand, the failover to Azure was mostly seamless (granted, nobody was online at the time, but hey, I take the small wins).

We appear to have encountered some rare case of undo tablespace corruption
MySQL has undo tablespaces? o_O
*googles*
Oh, apparently it has had since 5.6. So it's not Oracle's corrupting influence. I've just only ever heard that terminology in connection with Oracle Database.

Last year? My phone is a three years old design and I only get lag when the network is congested to heck and back. Stupid people... Why do there have to be other people using my airwaves?

I've heard there's a giant purple dude who can help solve that problem.
If you feel lucky of course.

Status: starting on my Android app with raw OpenGL APIs since I couldn't find a suitable library

Status: annoyed with IDEs installing their own private instances of libraries and SDKs instead of sharing the ones already on the system.
I'm sure that's probably related to why Android Studio can't see the Microsoft Android Emulator (and I can't use the bundled one because I'm running HyperV, and I can't disable HyperV because I'm running Docker).

What's using all my resources? It must be the 3 VMs and 2 IDEs I'm running... No, wait. It's Chrome.

Status: Moving the FreeNAS installation to the new box went rather smoothly, all things considered.
Now to move around the VM disks so they can take advantage of the three new SSDs (one NVMe) and maybe not suck so much...

So I guess you'l take a pause from all Discourse-based forums due to performance issues?

Gathered all necessary information and reproduced their full setup in a VM. No hangs, no crashes, works as it should. Um, what now?

Unlikely, but you couldn't know that from what I wrote. The part that presumably crashes is just a small server process (which I wish wouldn't exist at all) that hands out licenses.
I've started 50 client processes on the VM in parallel (which do need some memory) and the server barely needs 1MB.

You're lucky. I can't even log into Discourse because I got banned for reporting a situation where the browser's back button didn't work.
-
@mott555 My browser's back button works great and I'm not banned.
-
@pie_flavor It didn't work 5 - 6 years ago though. (Or rather, it "worked" but it didn't even remotely do what you'd expect.)
-
@mott555 meanwhile, NodeBB's back button is almost completely useless. Half the time it is a permission denied error, the second half it forgets your scroll location, and the third half it just takes you somewhere else in the thread because it counts long-scrolling as following a link.

@pie_flavor zero problems with NodeBB's back button ever and counting.
-
@Gąska It just did something really weird for me, but my mouse is failing and sometimes likes to register 2 - 4 clicks per physical click. And I couldn't get it to happen a second time.

ENOREPRO
I use the back button about half the time to get back to the topic list, and 90+% of the time it puts me back where I was, with the topic I just exited highlighted. Whenever it doesn't, it's because the topic got a reply while I was reading it and moved to the top of the list.
-
@mott555 Are you by any chance using a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse? Because that would be one hell of a coincidence (see WTF bites thread)
-
@hungrier said in The Official Status Thread:

It is a Microsoft mouse. Well, actually, just a "Micr" mouse because the rest of the text is rubbed off from age. These are my favorite "standard" mouse for everything except my one computer that has a Razer Hex Naga, but I'm not sure they make them anymore.

And did you know, Discourse puts me back where I was 100% of the time, no matter what happened in the interim.
-
@pie_flavor So if you go into a topic and it gets replies while you're reading it, then you go back, will it show the topic that you were just in in the place it was before (i.e. the wrong place)?

Discontinued in 2012, though they have a slightly up-market replacement that came out last year. I loved those things...

Writing raw OpenGL without a library sucks.
-
@hungrier If it gets replies while I'm reading it, it will be below things I haven't opened yet IIRC.

Status: A DLL I maintain leaks a bit of memory when loaded into a certain third-party application. It's slow, but after a few days of runtime the application crashes with an OOM exception, and this is a problem for a certain customer.
Attaching the Visual Studio Performance Profiler to the third-party application in order to do memory profiling on my DLL causes an instant system crash and reboot. And porting the feature that reproduces the leak in this application over to an independent EXE results in an application that leaks no memory.
This is going to be fun.
