I was almost right.

Hmm. Endless love for Microsoft, making fun of bitcoins and Atwood, rants... this is actually Blakey, isn't it.

The comma splices drive me nuts.
I mean I know the bad grammar is the schtick, but I'd never type a comma splice like that on purpose.

@obeselymorbid You quite frequently make marriage/divorce jokes.

I got that connection even though it isn't that often I think. There was just that one day when I stumbled on a marriage joke page and shared some I chuckled at.
The '?' was more directed at the tweet you posted and this thread in general. What is this dril guy, he is slightly too coherent to be mistaken for a Markov chain, but just barely.

Dril is a novelty Twitter account which gained a large fan following through its seemingly nonsensical tweets

@pie_flavor I have wondered if forums would be improved if users were auto-banned once they hit 10K posts. Maybe even less than that.

@Vixen
We recently tested the backup. It worked but was a bit stale

From experience, write-only backups suck.

Write-Once-Read-Never backups that you were sold promising they were Write-Once-Read-Many backups are worse...... :'(

You where storing stuff in the recycle bin again weren't you?

You where storing stuff in the recycle bin again weren't you?I had to explicitly add a network share labeled "Temp (not backed up!)" to our backups because people kept storing important things there and we lost it due to a disk failure and lack of backups once.

"Not backed up" doesn't mean "Don't store important shit here" for some reason...

the backups work fine, but maybe relying on windows to be alive enough to queue them is a bad plan
(although most weeks my computer isn't completely broken and offline on the weekend)

Your work computer, or your personal computer? You're not mixing the two, right?

you want me to buy an entire separate computer just for playing, like, two video games?

Unless you offer some other way to store stuff in a shared manner, it will be used to store stuff permanently anyway.
Back when I worked at Ungeneral Unelectric (name changed to protect me), there was a network Temp folder that was emptied on weekends. And filled on mondays, because people really needed to share the stuff. Things like IDE installers and other material that gets used regularly, but engineers loathe to re-download from outside again (slow!) unless there's been a new release.
There was no other network drive space allocated for this, no project wanted to spend the budget, and having a permanent unmanaged dumping ground is just waiting for a porn stash -related lawsuit. The only reason for there being a networked Temp-folder was that they were trying to cut down on usage of random USB sticks to move files around.
Best solution I've seen for this dilemma was what my old university did; every student had a Unix account, with related space that was also accessible from Windows machines, and everyone had a Public folder in their account, for sharing files.

*nervously looks at the piles of ancient PCs all around* Is that not the popular thing to do?
