Status: Pulled my Car PC to update my music library on it (Holy crap, the dates indicate 2015
!!!).Apparently Groove Music (probably way outdated) was stupid and didn't actually pick up about 42 percent of the files, I'm sifting through songs I've not heard in (apparently) three years...

Status: walked 1 1/2 miles to the Walmart to pick up some more booze, only to realize as I arrived that in leaving my wallet at the hotel (since i can pay with my phone) I've basically fucked myself if they card me.
Of course they carded me, so now I'm walking the mile and a half each way again because now I want to bring the ID and rub it in their faces for doubting me.
So instead of a mile and a half walk both ways to pick up some booze, it's that, twice. Six miles in total.
Fuck it, I need the exercise.

Status: A part I've just designed in turns out to be on 40 week lead-time. What the hell ST? I can get sample quantities now, but do I gamble that the lead time will improve by the time this goes volume.
I'm beginning to appreciate having a purchasing department now. It's nice to be able to just design something in (as long as the manufacturer says it's 'active') and let them worry about sourcing and scheduling.

Alright, forget about the MQTT shit, apparently there's something horribly wrong with the wrapper, whatever.
Now, trying to to get the fucking config file to save onto the virtual filesystem.
It literally can't be done, apparently. I've spent the last six hours littering the save routine and smashing my head upon the floor.
Maybe some rest and background processing will help come up with a solution, but I apparently can't trust the C++ methods that report back "I wrote X bytes!" to actually do anything...

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take three minutes every time to compile the sketch to try and upload it (every attempt is apparently a full recompile, no exceptions). It might not even be so bad if I could retry an upload without recompiling (again, full). But what really takes the cake is that apparently if I don't time the download right it doesn't even try to start. And what's more, the window between powering the device and when it decides it doesn't want to be in download any more is so small that I have to dedicate undivided attention to the compile process.
It's like trying to hit a bullet train with rocks by tossing them perpendicular to the track....

That, and I don't really have any interest in the newest stuff anymore. Buying a Switch just to play Breath of the Wild (and nothing else) seemed like a waste, so I didn't. The last thing I bought was a NES Mini classic so I could play the same games again I played 25 years ago. 🙄
Maybe if I can figure out how to play Red Alert (1 or 2) on a Mac...

One up! Did the same, but with an electric. Glad that I chose a cheap one so it's not a big deal. Serves as a room decor now mostly. Another thing to dust though.
Add to that, guitar is frickin' hard. Piano? Given as little as two fingers one can slowly play basic melodies with little effort. Guitar? Not a chance, you fat finger Freddy.

@Applied-Mediocrity Yeah, I learned piano, then trombone (which is surprisingly challenging), then guitar kind of (like you said, guitar is one of if not THE hardest popular instrument to learn-- props to people who play it well!) now I'm going back to piano because solo trombone kind of sucks.
The biggest hurdle to learning piano is owning a piano. After receiving the package, I'm pretty sure this electric piano & stand won't fit where I was planning to put it in my living room...
When I was a kid I wanted to learn tubular bells. This was when that album "Tubular Bells" was popular and you'd hear it as well-placed accompaniment in songs like Red Right Hand all the time. The problem is, even a mediocre set costs like $12,000. Ouch.

Anyway, piano was another thing I was considering. A MIDI keyboard, more precisely. I'm not that crazy to have a go at those fancy looking digital pianos given that I know scales as good as I know fish. Well, no, a bit better. I'm not keen on fishing. Thank heck a decent graded hammer one + assorted gubbins come at good 500 or about. That's sufficiently enough not to splurge on a whim. And there's good amount of weasel-speak about what any given weighted action is, and is it really what it says it is. Not that it matters if there's no one playing the thing. Still haven't completely dropped the idea, the blasted fool. Don't encourage me by telling more about yours, of course... I like reading up on things and imagining things.
I read there was this guy that got whacked in the head and after that could play piano like a professional. I might start to visit dark alleyways or take up skateboarding...

Not... really? Like I said, trombone is pretty shit for a solo instrument and I'm not in any bands. It was cool when I was a kid because:
- Riker on Star Trek played it
- You could use it in the jazz band at school (which was far cooler than the regular symphonic band or marching band)
- Because it looks simple (fewest moving parts of all instruments), I thought it'd be easy to play (actually the fact that you can "tune" it on-the-fly to literally any note makes it pretty damned challenging-- trumpets, which their handy-dandy valves, more or less force you to stay in tune at least with themselves if not with the rest of the group)
I don't know if you mean "play" as in "can play". I'm pretty competent at it. But I don't play it and haven't in years. (Since I got the guitar. Which I'm still shit at.)
