Feature request: notifications for downvotes

I don't care whether they're anonymous or not, but I feel like this would be a good thing to have.

I'm kind of mixed on this. I understand what you're saying in principle. Whenever I see anyone with negative votes, unless the post is really bad, I'll upvote it. I figure the experience of entering the war zone that is WTDWTF is unpleasant enough, so why emphasize the negative any more than you have to? If I really want to know if someone downvoted one of my posts, I'll hover over the number, and if the score is less than the number of names I see, I'll know I was down-voted.
I like being notified of upvotes (unless it's from you-know-who just as a marker). It lets me know that not everyone in the universe hates everything I say. I'd just as soon not have notification of down-votes.

Thing is, you have per-action settings for what you get notifications for. So even if you don't want it, others might, and all that has to be done for that to work is to make sure upvotes and downvotes are separate settings.

@JBert I've read that topic before. It just says what's happened (bz downvotes) but nothing about any controversy causing this.
Maybe I missed the part about "linked posts" you mentioned.

Why?
So people can be notified when they get downvoted. The same reason people want to be notified when they get upvoted.

At the very least, it would be nice if the score on the post could be styled different if it has any downvotes.
I dunno, make the number red or something.
It's the difference between "this post has 0 votes" and "this post has 1 upvote and 1 downvote".

But it works, going into your profile and clicking on best show a list of interesting posts. (Except when the likes thread contaminate it)

Your most voted post is a speech on how @ben_lubar is the best. And Ben's most voted (non likes topic) is a quote attributed to Jeff Atwood hence Atwood is the best.

As long as there are custom emoji. I've gotten so used to having a goatse emoji that it's difficult to imagine life without it.

You just quoted where I said I didn't care if it was anonymous. I'd like to get notifications of downvotes, even if they're anonymized.

@pie_flavor you should be requesting this feature to nodebb developers anyway. IIRC this forum category was created for people to triage if the bugs are caused by it's customization before sending it upstream

I think he was more active during CS times.

and mostly disappeared from the forum roughly (give or take a few months) about the time we transitioned.Edit: his last post was 4 discoyears ago, and the discoepoch was 4 discoyears ago. Unfortunately, on mobile, so I can't get the hover-text with actual dates.
