Going to bed at 1am in the first place is my fault though.
Mostly unavoidable, though. Didn't finish eating dinner until almost 23:00. Didn't leave work until 20:00, and then the potatoes took forever to cook (when it takes an hour to boil a pan of water, your stove is ) and steak took longer than I expected, too (eventually gave up on the meat thermometer because it wasn't giving me reasonable numbers and just cooked it until it wasn't quite so red in the middle), so didn't start eating until 22:00. Distracted by playing Skyrim while eating, so the actual eating part took about 45 minutes. Doctor says don't lie down for 2 hours after eating anything (and that plus acid blocker plus avoiding spicy foods ( but I like spicy foods) Edit: and cutting back on caffeine , so I can't even caffeine-up the get through the day seems to be helping, although I still don't think it's the main problem), so quarter-to-01:00 — two extra hours of Skyrim . Then by the time my son got his act together and got to bed, 01:30. :yawn:

@HardwareGeek
So, I'm seeing that as it's your son's fault you were up after 1am, since he touched it last...

.You can if you bolt on a jet engine. Or a rocket engine.
Sorry, can't understand clearly stated terms with real referents. In buzzwords, please?

@Gribnit
You need to leverage the blockchain to increase shareholder value by following Agile principles.
-
@izzion Wow! that would be like bolting on a jet rocket.

@Benjamin-Hall I predict a new Lounge thread titled "Twelve Stupid Reasons From Apple On Why They Rejected My App," unless the app reviewers have grown some brains since I last had to deal with them.
If I have to, I'll be seriously pissed. It's a minor bug-fix update with no significant functional changes.
-
@izzion Sounds like an actual thing. Considering the fact there are job openings that want agile managers with x years experience, whatever the fuck that means, I am not surprised any buzzword vomit can sound like a legit thing these days SMH.

The Cat: I say let's get into the jet-powered rocket pants and Junior Birdman the hell out of here.
Kryten: An excellent and inventive suggestion, sir, with just two tiny drawbacks.A, We don't have any jet-powered rocket pants. And B, There's no such thing as jet-powered rocket pants outside the fictional serial "Robbie Rocket Pants".
The best thing about that gag isn't the whole rocket pants thing, which is good, but the fact that Cat doesn't want to just "Birdman" the hell out of there (Birdman being a fourth-rate superhero absolutely nobody gives a shit about) but in fact to "Junior Birdman" the hell out of there, Junior Birdman being the already-lame Birdman's incredibly lame sidekick.
This has been Boring Analysis of a Funny Sitcom Line.
(There is one good thing about Birdman: some of his villains got used in Space Ghost Coast to Coast and other later Hannah Barbara spoof shows. And of course Birdman: Attorney at Law. But those are all way after that Red Dwarf aired.)

That's what those meows mean? I need to learn me some cat language one of these days.
That same meow also means "one step closer and you bleed. A lot."

I tested Virtualbox's "3D acceleration" for VMs with TF2. It runs at 3FPS. Not particularly useful.
Edit: tried it without. It crashes with "out of memory or address space". That is about what I expected.

Status: I did a (useless) thing!
This (practically useless) class can take an Enum with Description decorators and give you out an object that represents that value!
public static class AThing { /// <summary> /// Gets the value of the <see cref="T:System.ComponentModel.DescriptionAttribute"/> on an struct, including enums. /// </summary> /// <typeparam name="T">The type of the struct.</typeparam> /// <param name="enumerationValue">A value of type <see cref="T:System.Enum"/></param> /// <returns>If the struct has a Description attribute, this method returns the description. Otherwise it just calls ToString() on the struct.</returns> /// <remarks>Based on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/479410/enum-tostring/479417#479417, but useful for any struct.</remarks> public static string GetDescription<T>(this T enumerationValue) where T : struct { return typeof(T).GetMember(enumerationValue.ToString()) .SelectMany(mi => mi.GetCustomAttributes(typeof(System.ComponentModel.DescriptionAttribute), false), (mi, ca) => ((System.ComponentModel.DescriptionAttribute)ca).Description) .FirstOrDefault() ?? enumerationValue.ToString(); } public static List<DescribedEnum<T>> GetDescribedList<T>() where T : struct { var Vals = Enum.GetValues(typeof(T)); List<DescribedEnum<T>> results = new List<DescribedEnum<T>>(Vals.Length); foreach (var val in Vals) results.Add(new DescribedEnum<T>((T)val)); return results; } public class DescribedEnum<T> where T : struct { public T Value { get; internal set; } public int ID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public DescribedEnum(T enumerationValue) { Value = enumerationValue; Type enumType = Enum.GetUnderlyingType(typeof(T)); //We'll assume it can be made an int. ID = (int)Convert.ChangeType(enumerationValue, enumType); Name = enumerationValue.ToString(); Description = enumerationValue.GetDescription(); } } }

status; that's it. I've decided Pokemon Go hates my phone. I've logged into my Pokemon trainer club account (apparently it was made during a time that a six digit password with no caps was allowed) and Google on another phone, but neither method works on the phone that actually matters.
Whatever. Fuck it.

@dcon
You get warnings? I only get "BLOOD!" And there usually is.
-
Is there anyway I can rename a topic I started?
-
@stillwater Just click Edit on the OP.
-
@pie_flavor Thanks. Am I TRWTF for looking for the option under "Topics Tools"? Made Intuitive sense.
-
@stillwater For expecting NodeBB to be sensible about anything? Yes, you are TRWTF.
-
@stillwater @pie_flavor it's worth mentioning that the edit window on posts is something like 3 days and that window applies to editing the topic title also. After that, you won't be able to edit the post or the title.

Meanwhile, on good forum software...
-
@pie_flavor How the fuck did NodeBB fuck probably the simplest thing ever? An Idiot would know to put the "Edit Topic" next to the topic or under the "Topics Tools" button. What did the Dev think? ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!
-
@stillwater I imagine they thought that editing a topic title without editing the corresponding post was just not something people did, and anyone who did was .

Classic Jeff Atwood reasoning.
-
@pie_flavor I imagine they thought the new topic composer has a field to edit the title and a field to edit the post.
edit: and a field for the tags, and a field for the category (but you can't change that unless you're a mod, I think).

Status: Been staring at “unit tests”… specifically, file upon file with contents exactly like this (except for some extra blank lines I've removed for readability here):
import unittest class MyTestCase(unittest.TestCase): @unittest.skip("Test not implemented yet") def test_something(self): self.assertEqual(True, False, "Test not implemented yet") if __name__ == '__main__': unittest.main()
These have been like this for years, and apparently according to one of my colleagues:
Thank for that. He refused to fix them. On the logic of skipping when we had a 2 week test upgrade session years ago
(We got rid of from the team before I joined, using the combined reasons of he didn't do any work to speak of, and he ended up in a punch-up with one of his cow-orkers.)
Fortunately there are real tests too. Which mostly test the wrong thing. :( I'm going to have to go and redo the whole fucking lot from first principles (by looking at the source of the code on the other end of the comms) just to figure out WTF should actually be happening…

Going through the AWS Docs and the dialog box at the bottom pops up everytime you visit a new page. Like 100 times so far fucking annoying as fuck

Which is why editing the Title of a topic counts as an edit to the OP in discourse.

No, as I posted directly below that.

@pie_flavor What?
-
Went to hook up some smart switches, open the switch box to find every wire had been mostly painted over, there are four pigtails, and since the last switches didn't use the neutral it was hard to find the neutral since everything was painted white.
Fuck it, electrician time.

@pie_flavor This is because of a bug in the IRC library. In your dimension, Windows is fucking awesome.

Am I bad in thinking someone missed the point?

@Tsaukpaetra Iirc, yes. Those are the correct channels for everyone to be on.

what?
-
@Tsaukpaetra
1,6,11 are the only three non-interfering 20MHz channels in 2.4GHz space, not many other choices to use
-
Plus like 6 people in the world pick their channel rather than either leaving it on default or leaving the router to decide.
-
@loopback0 Pfft, I usually take a careful look at the available room above noise floor across the band with a signal analyzer and then let the router decide.
-

"correct"? What makes them any more correct?
Else why provide the option? Just make channels 1,2,3.
