Status: my phone provider decided for the first time in literally years to push an update to Android. Yay, I guess?
So I download and install it. 3 times, because apparently they pushed 3 different updates (no, not the same 3 times, it had a different version number each time). It's a good thing I have a super-fast internet connection and downloading 1 GB (3 times) only takes, uh, half-a-day or so (3 times).
Anyway, let's see what's this shiny new Android 8.0 can do!
Hum. Not much difference I can see, apart from sundry messages about settings that have been changed and that I need to review and oops, the message is gone, too late, let's hope you understood and remembered what it was about, and the 5 other messages that you saw in the meantime... OK, so no change overall.
Uh, when I get a text message I used to have a banner with a preview of the message and some quick replies on the lock screen (in addition to the notification, that shows less of the message and has no actions accessible without unlocking). Well, no longer with Android 8.0. Let's have a look at the application options, maybe one of those fleeting messages was somehow relevant?
"Since Android 8.0 this feature is not available anymore". That what's the settings in my application (Mood) say.
So basically, Android 8.0 decided to remove a potentially useful feature (letting an app display stuff on the lock screen, I guess). Not put it behind another specific permission, just remove it. Well, that, or the developers of my messaging app were just lazy and didn't do what was needed to keep the feature working.
In any case, good job phone! I've had this update for less than a day and I'm already upset by it.

At least his monitor won't be restarting when it feels like it.

Ah. Well, if the ROM gives you root, you almost certainly have to hide that from the game before you're allowed to boot it.

In Medieval Germany we also called those a "Gassenhauer". Which literally translated means "Lanecleaver".
But which also means "popular melody".

Turns out, that wasn't the problem.
No, the problem was that I had enabled developer options to turn on the touches dot thing, and having that on is uber scary and no-no and therefore no GO for you!
It's not even explained with a scary error code, just fucking spinner of death! All of this is just shitty under handedness.

They have to make sure that nobody is GPS hacking or simulating inputs, so that the PokemonGo World Championships will be seen as on the up and up.Otherwise they might have @Karla chasing after them to slather them in mayonnaise

To my knowledge, that's what the new "Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee" Pokemon games are sort of going to be on the Switch. They're going to be similar to Go in the catching mechanics but still fleshed out with a world like standard Pokemon games.

All-In-One? Like a Macintosh? I'd say that's a computer that happens to be in the same box as the monitor not a monitor with an OS.

And the stupid thing is that it gets turned back off after recording the screen, like, it's fucking hard to remember the state of a boolean or something.

I'd say technically, uninstalling means deleting most of the files of any program. So formatting the flash drive or even throwing the hard drive into a shredder would count.
But users usually expect their devices to still work afterward, so that means installing a new OS if you just deleted one.

If you really care, you can spoof the GPS by actually broadcasting fake GPS signals with an external device.
As a bonus, this also lets you remotely hijack most drones, ships, and missiles!

IIRC, enabling developer options in your phone is one of the things that specifically warns you that some apps might refuse to work.
One of the reasons I think is that if developer mode is turned on, that tells the app it can't really trust the phone's internal sensors. Such as, say, its GPS location. ...which would be sort of problematic for an app like Pokemon Go.

Probably about the same as one uninstalls McAfee antivirus.
