Snapped this while hiking in Switzerland:

We went hiking on a mountain; unfortunately it was cloudly, so no spectacular views:

@zecc I have a strong suspicion she was dressed up and smiling that way on purpose, perhaps the only accident was that the photo was taken and posted to reddit and became popular. But if she genuinely dressed that way by chance, sat that way by chance, and smiled that way by chance, then that's pretty cool.

It took 2 hours to climb through the Swiss hills and rain and mud, but we got some really nice views:

Not my picture. From a friend of a friend on facebook:
That's a view of the "Holy Fire" in California looking across Lake Elsinore.
-
@boomzilla checks out the window Yep, we're still on fire.
-
This is from a friend's front yard. (from their FB feed)
Luckily "just" a grass fire. An evac was ordered - they were at the dog show with us. The evac was lifted a few hours later - but it did make for a sleepless night for them...

Mt. Diablo last week, 3800':
-
@bb36e That photo appears to be looking roughly east. To your right, almost exactly 40 miles south-southeast you would have seen Mt. Hamilton, at a height of 4265' (1300m). This morning it looked like the top 200' or so were still adorned with patches of snow like the ones in your picture, maybe a little more extensive, enough to be seen from a distance, but far from complete coverage. I suspect they are completely gone from Mt. Diablo by now.

Probably :(
It was kind of nice to go up there and walk on layers of ice and snow, I guess it reminded me of Canada.

Taken at Pinnacles National Park

@bb36e My dad loves Mount Diablo, he hikes it something like twice a month. Hell, if that was a Sunday, you might have run into him.

@pie_flavor You have nice sunsets on Earth-73.
-
@HardwareGeek to be fair, Google auto-stylized that one. This was the original. Though by playing with the settings I managed to achieve this on my own which is the closest of all to what I actually saw, although it lacks the sharp blue contrast of Google's version.

It's fake views!

That's Buzz Aldrin looking snazzy, BTW.
-
@boomzilla I don't want to joke about this, but if a murderer ever gets Buzz Aldrin, that would be a Buzz killer.

Neither do I (and obviously I will), but they may then find the killer had a Buzz cut.

Storm clouds over Southern California.
-
Storm clouds over Arizona. This is probably the best of the thunderstorm pictures I took during my drive from California to Texas. Taken from the San Simon rest stop along I-10, about 2 miles from the New Mexico border, looking westward toward Tucson. Most of the lightning activity was in the mountains to the east (which I was about to drive through), but it was just dark mountains and dark clouds; unless I had by dumb luck happened to catch a spectacular lightning flash, it wasn't visually interesting.

The previous day, somewhere west of Phoenix (Bouse Wash rest area?).

This popped up in my FB memories from 8 years ago:
I took that with my potato phone when the Space Shuttle Discovery was flown into Dulles before going on display at the Air and Space Museum there. Still amazed at how good the picture came out.
-
@boomzilla I got a really good one (or 2) when they flew into Moffett. Damn, can't find them now... sigh.

We recently drove Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. We stopped at a scenic overlook where they had a crowd sourced time lapse photography project. There was a bracket where you stick your phone, take a picture and then email it to a specific email address. You can see the time lapse here:
