Cats that are bad at attacking
Here's one that isn't:
-
-
@heterodox Cats basically have 3 modes: "chase", "sleep", and "lick". The changes between those 3 can be unpredictable.
-
@anonymous234 You forgot "snuggle and purr".

That mode of operation is only supported by a subset of all cats.
-
@asdf The ones commonly known simply as "cats," yes. The ones commonly featured in cat videos and cat pics. It's true that the so-called "large cats" are incapable of purring, but that's not what we're talking about here. :P

That's not what I meant. I've just met a few cats in my life that were extremely antisocial despite being pets.
-
@asdf That just means that you are bad at cat.
I've met several such cats--or at least, several that their owners claim are antisocial. I've never once failed to get them to cuddle up in my lap and purr as I pet them, often to the amazement of their owners.
Maybe that's my superpower or something. If so, my weakness is dogs. They have exactly the opposite reaction; even when their owner believes they're sweet and docile, they have a disturbing tendency to try to attack me on sight.
-
@masonwheeler
Sounds like you're the very definition of a cat person. :P
-
@asdf Yeah, pretty much...

my kitty was like that. she liked being near you but not touching you, she liked being scratched but only for EXACTLY 17.23 seconds, and only EXACTLY on her sweet spot which moved every 5.2 seconds. If you scratch the wrong spot or for too long she'd somehow turn her body inside out and seriously gum your hand while holding in her version of a bear hug (she'd never break the skin, but she knew how to use pressure to inflict pain)
she was capable pf purring, but unless you risked your ear by bringing it inadvisably close to her you'd never hear it because for some reason she did not aspirate her purr so it was very very very very soft.
...... I miss her. :'(

Cats generally know to fear me. Occasionally one will try to be friendly.
Dogs all love me.

it would help if you would stop chasing them off your lawn
