Strange, I just tested it and the option appears on both D(Vista) and F(Win8) drives. My C drive is new SSD bought for Win10 installation so doesn't have it. Are there other criteria?

@RaceProUK Is that folder actually full though?
Microsoft's definition of "delete" is kinda weird, sometimes they only delete the big files and leave a bunch of small ones behind.

Guess it was auto-purged after all.

some mysterious programyour crappy antivirus had your file open and you can't move it.Usually it's Windows' very own desktop search indexer. In XP, it'd be the thumbnail generator -- it was exceptionally bad about locking all of the files in a folder and then failing to unlock some of them for whatever reason.
Bonus points if you've ever had a folder move, rename, or delete fail because you had a command prompt window that was

Getting paid silly money on Friday. Hopefully I can pay off everything else for final and then continue to save for my own home.

@anonymous234 the biggest alternative fact around at the moment is the Windows 10 "This won't take long" message when installing or updating Windows 10
It doesn't take long.
compared to installing from scratch
-
@sloosecannon It doesn't take long to install stuff. I have a relatively cheap SSD and a PC from late 2013 (that is 4 years old).
Even my Dell E6410 takes a maximum of 20 minutes and that is ancient compared to my desktop. (both has Crucial SSDs installed).

Yeah, I read about your supercomputer cluster up there.
For people in the real world, though.

So my 4 year old PC is a super computer. WTF?
My CPU cost 200 quid in 2014.

@RaceProUK Well they're getting "relationship education" from 4 - so stuff like "no-one else should touch your private parts". It says they'll be taught about sex "at an appropriate age", implying that that will be somewhat later.
"No-one else should touch your private parts" is to "sex education" like "abstinence" is to "safe sex".
Simple solution: call it something else. They're not teaching 4 year olds about sex, so why call it that?

So the comment section has material for Dave Gorman's 'Found Poems' he does in Modern Life Is Goodish?

@lucas1
Indeed.

@sloosecannon So my 3/4 year old PC is barely better than yours?

If you think so.
-
@sloosecannon I honestly don't know. I got some nerd at work to spec up my gaming / work rig.
I stuck in a 960GTX I think in late 2015 and I only just upgraded to 32gb of ram.
SSD was the real performance difference. I am going to upgrade all the drives to SSD next month. As 500gb / 1tb 3.5 SSDs are not about the right price. OS drive is 256GB Kingston SSD.

GTX970, only 28 cause my other 8g stick died. Somehow my 2700k ocs to 4.4 on air only. It can go all the way up to 4.7 or so before the temps start getting worrying.
-
@sloosecannon I don't OC, not since Athlon XP days. Can't be arsed. This rig has to pay the bills. As long as it is stable and fast ... it is good enough. I can run the Farcry Primal at High to Ultra with ab out 45 FPS.

I didn't, but it's a really old processor so I figure if I kill it, I'll just buy a new one.
-
@sloosecannon I was maxing memory not processor with dev stuff. Gaming stuff I can always just turn the settings down and tbh an 960GTX isn't going to have massive problems with todays games at 1080p.
-
@lucas1 said in The Official Status Thread:

Eh, you might be pushing it with newer stuff. My 970 handles everything great, and looks amazing, but the 960 is a little short on VRAM for brand new games.
Then again, I like everything to be maxxed.
-
@sloosecannon some stuff in Farcry primal on the beasts fur looks a bit iffy, but everything else is fine tbh. Not that bothered.
Crysis 3 runs great at ultra.
-
@lucas1 I was more bothered that at 16gb my Pc was maxing out on ram for dev. I put it on the business account as it was work related.

@anotherusername said in The Official Status Thread:

It's not supposed to be sex education. It's supposed to stop young children being sexually abused by teaching them when to tell an adult.
Simple solution: call it something else. They're not teaching 4 year olds about sex, so why call it that?
They aren't calling it that. "Sex and relationships education" is what they're calling the entire program including the sex education that's only being given to older children and the relationships education proposed to start at 4.
-
@CarrieVS still seems like the way they've got it named is asking for trouble.
Emphasize that the focus is safety. Hell, tell the parents that you're teaching their 4-yo kids modesty, they'll probably understand that. And never under any circumstances even put mention of it in the same paragraph as sex ed (much less in the same program as sex ed), because it's not sex ed.

Status: So, I got this offer for 1 month of online access at half price to some newer TV series by a German Pay-TV provider (called Sky). Since that's the only legal means currently to view Legion or Westworld in Germany I took the offer.
First sign of troubles: Upon accepting the offer, it took them 2 hours to "approve" my request.
Second sign: You're supposed to protect your account with a 4-digits PIN.Then the actual troubles began. I browsed to Legion (site is rather slow, by the way), clicked on the first episode aaaaand ... only saw: "You don't have the Entertainment Ticket!"
Which, according to their email confirmation, they activated two hours ago. And which is also shown in my account. Okay, let's make sure and browse to the series they're actually advertising as definitely included in this package: The Walking Dead.
Same message.
Okay, something's gone wrong. How do I contact them? ... only by a contact form? Yeah, no. Let's see if I can find a phone number. Which I found. Only nine minutes in the line: "Oh, for this kind of ticket we have a special line. I'll forward your call to them!"
After one minute, an automated voice: "All our agents are currently busy. Please use the online form and don't call us again!"
Seriously. It said exactly that.
Alright, I'll use the form. Punched in the description of the problem plus a comment that I'm currently not really sure if they actually want me as a customer. Clicked "send". And discovered why I felt that strongly about not using the form:
"Due to a high number of requests it may take up to seven(7) days to deal with your email."
Luckily, however, there are usually some Sky salesmen at our local mall. I'll talk to them - they most likely won't help me but I'll feel better.

@Rhywden Torrent is free. Just do that.
I wanted to pay, but there was like 10 different services I paid £5.99 for and I watched like 2 shows from each so it really wasn't worth it.
Answer ... Torrents.
They need to Spotify TV shows ... and I don't mean Netflix.

@lucas1 I was an admin at our students' dormitory for five years. The amount of cease-and-desist letters we got make me rather leery of torrenting stuff.

That. When you start Disk Cleanup, you have to then click Clean up system files</kbd>.

@lucas1 said in The Official Status Thread:

You have to use the Disk Cleanup tool. There are some really funky permissions in there. (I tried to manually delete once, ended up safe-booting and manually wacking permissions before I got it fixed)

That's the nice thing when you live in a country where you are innocent until proven guilty.
If I ever receive one of those letters, I already know what answer I will send them. There is 4 people living at this address. Until they can prove who did the torrenting, they can go fuck themselves. And if they send me another, I will forward it to my lawyer and the police because I will consider this harassment.

Winamp somehow lost its media database, so it has to rebuild it. Except it crashes if it has to index for than a few hundred SID files in a batch.
I have the High Voltage SID Collection. It has 48943 SIDs.
