Sometimes I want other types of upvotes

If votes were limited people would chose better and the score would be more meaningful, and the software would be able to filter the most interesting ones more precisely.
If we want the scores to be meaningful and filterable/sortable, then instead of limiting votes, an upvote should automatically upvote every post in its parent chain up to the last post in that chain that is upvoted by the upvoter, so that entire conversations can keep together for context. If a given post is worth reading, the context that produced that post is also worth reading, right? ()

Maybe if you multiply the value of your vote with 0.9 each time you follow up so it's effect is attenuated

@fbmac I want votes to be limited and tradeable, because then they will automatically gain a monetary value. And I will personally create a bot to trade them for bitcoin with just a 0.5% fee on withdrawal.

@ben_lubar The ultimate system would be one where you can "react" to a post not just with any emoji, but with an arbitrary text string of your own. How cool would that be?
-
@anonymous234 That would never catch on; too much effort.
-
@HardwareGeek We could restrict it to 140 characters so people don't feel pressured to write too much.
