15/10/2014: P. G. Wodehouse's birthday and 50 years to the day since Cole Porter died so this seems appropriate:

Noticable youtube sound quality degradation, sadly.

The song I'm linking to is Son of Sand Flea, but the rest of the album is good too, if you like this sort of music.

Pick for 2014/10/16

Mercury Rev had started as an experimental noise-rock band. By the time they hit "big" with "Deserter's Song", they had fully degenerated into some kind of melodic pop/rock. Search "Mercury Rev" on YouTube, and all the popular songs will be from that period.
But somewhere in between these two extremes, they managed to hit just the right tone for me. The perfect combination of noise and melody. And (almost) all of it is on their album "See You On The Other Side" from 1995. This is probably my favorite song, although there were 2 other great picks to chose from.
-
A great if unknown prog band. Check them out.
-
And another song, because screw rules.
Worth clicking even despite the lack of onebox. A somewhat-jazzy hard experimental prog. You can check out the whole album at BandCamp, Mummy Trouble and POG are also great.

Saw "The most amazing head..." thread and thought of this song...

I don't remember why I bookmarked this, but I think it was due to the lovely winds around 5:00 that I was planning to use in some video project I can no longer remember what it was.

Surprisingly, I wasn't previously familiar with Heinichen. Thank you.

Better than the original IMO, though I like it too.
And here's the original original, why not?

I forgot to post a song yesterday.

Is it progressive rock, kraut rock or space rock? Who cares. It rocks.

This is entirely @boomzilla's fault for reminding me of it:

Drum battle!
The ROKs are decent but the Marines totally steal the show.
