RE: In Which @Captain asks C# Beginner Questions
@Captain Okay the problem you are facing is UserControl is only a ContentControl where a TabItem is a HeaderedContentControl. UserControl doesn't "know" how to render "correctly" in a TabControl.
Is MainPanel only meant to be used in a TabControl or could it be used in other ContentControls?

RE: In Which @Captain asks C# Beginner Questions
@Captain
Following works for me. Only caveat is the XAML Designer won't show the default binding correctly on the CustomPanel but if you throw the custom panel in another control it binds correctly.<UserControl x:Class="WpfFunTimes.CustomPanel" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:WpfFunTimes" mc:Ignorable="d" d:DesignHeight="300" d:DesignWidth="300" x:Name="ControlRoot"> <TabItem Header="{Binding Path=Title, ElementName=ControlRoot}" Name="TabItemRoot"/> </UserControl>
/// <summary> /// Interaction logic for CustomPanel.xaml /// </summary> public partial class CustomPanel : UserControl { public CustomPanel() { InitializeComponent(); } public static readonly DependencyProperty TitleProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Title", typeof(String), typeof(CustomPanel), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata("Default Title")); public string Title { get { return (string)GetValue(TitleProperty); } set { SetValue(TitleProperty, value); } } }
-
RE: In Which @Captain asks C# Beginner Questions
@Captain You'll need to implement INotifyPropertyChanged or change the Title property to be a dependency property.

RE: The Official Status Thread
@Weng Reminds me of the time my old man took a car back to the shop because they used Loctite on the wheel lug nut threads.
For those non-wrench-head-experienced, Loctite is basically liquid plastic used to "seal" threaded fittings. Some "colors" only break-down under significant heat. IE: basically require a flame-thrower to loosen bolts and you really don't want that shit on a lug-nut thread when you are trying to swap a doughnut on the side of the road.

@Weng said in The Official Status Thread:
@MathNerdCNU It's not a "need". It's a literal need. Physically impossible otherwise. You only have to lift it about six inches - you can technically leave the transmission attached.
And I have a racecar and race in a series where "Replace the engine in the middle of the race" is a routine activity. I may be even more demented than you thought.
The fact that Suba-yota were higher than a when they designed the box-tard-go-zoom-zoom-mach-2 doesn't mean they werent...
-
RE: The Official Status Thread
@Weng You should not want. The fact you "need" an engine hoist to change the plugs+wires is a bad sign and bad mechanical design. You enjoying ripping half of your car apart for simple maintenance indicates gear-head-infectus-idiotus.*
- I once drove an Isuzu Rodeo v6 and was "supposed" to do the same kinda deal where I rip half the engine forward to change the wire-packs. I have small hands. Fuck that shit, made it work with my Vienna sausage meat hooks.

RE: The Official Status Thread
@Tsaukpaetra Not the PXE/TFTP bits per say but the parts that manage who gets what image/schedule the jobs/bounces the machine when I start the job. Being able to schedule the lab to reset on a Friday night and come into machines ready and waiting to test is going to be pretty sweet.

RE: Newtonsoft JSON - custom type?
@blakeyrat I'm not clear on which way you are trying to go; JSON to .NET Object, .NET Object to JSON or Stringy-.NET Object to JSON?

RE: :wtf: How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread)
@Yamikuronue "Best" part about blindly recommending VACUUM FULL is he didn't include the ANAYLZE option. If you are going to take your DB offline for maintenance may as well have it update statistics while it kills the dead tuples. But then it wouldn't be if he did that though...

RE: Setting up SSL for Windows Remote Access
@Captain Does a little key show up in the icon of the GoDaddy certificate in MMC?
I assume you are around Step 10 of this guide:
-
RE: Setting up SSL for Windows Remote Access
@Captain use MMC.exe and add the certificate snap-in for local computer. Right click on personal -> Import(or something like that) and follow the wizard.

RE: In Which @Captain asks C# Beginner Questions
@Captain If you want to do relative to the executing .NET process one of the Assembly static methods can get the path of the executing module and then you can work from there. I can't remember the code off my head and am too lazy to google for it but "Get executing assembly location" in google should point you in right direction. Also, System.IO.Path and System.IO.DirectoryInfo are your friends.

That said, this could be premature optimization, because I have no idea how to deploy an app on windows...
Depends on what you mean by deploy, at what scale, and the complexity of the application. It can be as simple as a ZIP file with executable(s), DLL(s) and config file(s) or as complex as multiple MSIs bootstrapped with a C/C++ executable that chains the MSI transactions.
Something something building an MSI with just Microsoft tooling/documentation is like looking at an Elder God/Old One something something FTAH'N
