RE: Finaly a Front page WTF worthy of the title
The other thing I hate is that is unusable in mobile devices as I can't see what I'm typing when the keyboard is up and that your preferences don't get saved... seriously? Did they test this shit
at all or it was Jeff jerking off to his awesomeness enough? -
RE: Job market
Yeah, I'm doing that. My contract is at will so I can bail whenever but I prefer to give them proper notice at the end of my contract if I find something better. I have been with them for 4 years so it is time to change. I'm keeping tabs on several opportunities and brushing my CV and stuff. Maybe I'll go back to ms or one of its partners. We'll see.

I already live in a poor tropical country where cows are sacred. India wouldn't be that much of a change.

RE: Frist! And Welcome
I'm using a nexus 4 with latest android and using chrome. And no, it doesn't work unless I ask for the desktop site because I can't see what I'm typing because the keyboard and superzoomed blank textbox occupies all the goddam screen. It is wonderful that it works for you but it doesn't for me... A lot of websites don't because fuck mobile users and programming is hard. At least we won't miss the ironny of using a crappy software to complain about crappy software. :(
-
RE: Frist! And Welcome
This forum is fucking awful for mobile devices, fucking unusable as I can't see what I'm posting. I had to write this in a notepad and paste it and even that was so hard that I had to request the desktop site. Another thing that CS does better

The problem is by blocking the ads, the site's traffic doesn't suffer from the bad advertising and their ad space becomes more valuable because they can show higher numbers to their advertisers.
Some days you tell me that my blocking ads is depriving content creators of an income stream. Other days you tell me that my blocking ads is making content creators more valuable to advertisers. Which is it? You can't convincingly argue both sides of a flat contradiction.
There is no contradiction. There is a diference between site owner and add creator.

Operation Barbarosaa?
That is the tip of the iceberg, there is also Hetalia Axis, which is an anime where countries are people during wwII, there is also another where Hitler is a little girl trying to conquer the world of schools a tank battle at a time, etc... so yeah, japanese are weird. There is also one where Budda and Jesus hang in an appartment together and hijinks ensue, I sense a reality show material right there. -
RE: Why mathematicians are no fun at parties
There was, and perhaps it is still running a program in my country that pitted three PHDs and they had to guess something (a historical fact or figure, etc) with a single or no clue, they could keep asking anything in yes/no format as long as the response was yes, if not then the counter was reduced and the next person would continue. I think the counter started at 10 and was pooled so it was more of a team effort and there was no actual prize if they won. There were three things they had to guess and one was suggested by the public, in the case that they failed to guess what it was then the person that suggested the item would get a prize (not cash though) but that didn't happen often. Really insteresting sometimes.

Except Gurren Laggan is less about that, and more about developing self-confidence. "Believe in the me who believes in you" and all that
That is a very common theme in anime
@Snooder said:Yeah, I like novel-length stuff in manga too, but in anime it just gets irrating as fuck when the plot can't keep up with the pace of the episodes. Or you end up with Bleach.
I tend to skip the anime all together and either read the ligh novels or the manga, with anime I always pick short series, 24 episodes top because I fucking hate fillers and long pointless scenes only there for fluff. Long running series like Bleach, One Piece and Naruto I stopped watching a looooong time ago, maybe I'll read the manga when it is finished but it was getting retarded so I decided to stop wasting my time. As a tip, korean web mahnwas are perfect to read on a phone. -

like Gurren Laggan, hides quite a bit of serious stuff under all the wacky hijinks.
Things that I remember from Gurren Laggan are spirals. drills and giant robots
@Snooder said:I mean, once you figure out what all the various references and not-so-subtle hints are leading up to in Kill La Kill, it's absolutely mindblowing
So it is more than a high school pervy uniform, a girl and giant scissors? Anyways I tend to go for more novel like stuff, I liked Shin Sekai Yori for example and almost anything by Naoki Urasawa. Never ever read Happy!, is one of the most depressing, rage inducing, humanity hating things out there; it is also about tennis. -

RE: I sure hope Mozilla doesn't hire this guy
That keyboard is fine, I have one of those since a couple of years and it has never been out of power, however I put it in a bright place from time to time as I mostly use it at night, my only complain is that external usb powered devices interfere with it producing some input lag(tried with pocket external hdd) which is annoying. Logitech makes nice hardware but the software is shit, Setpoint is a cesspool of wtfs.

The problem with that view, however, is there's a whole lot to iOS and it's app marketplace that has absolutely nothing to do with making phone calls.
I barely make any call, I mostly read books, (I have an android btw) and use a few apps but so far there hasn't been any learning required, I'm not saying that there aren't any apps out there that are hard to use but I don't believe there are used by the majority of users and let me remind you, this forum is not a representative group -

Some sense of entitlement you have there, buddy
@flabdablet said:I do know how my car works well enough to diagnose with reasonably high accuracy what's gone wrong with it when it goes wrong, though I pay somebody else to get their hands dirty and their knuckles skinned maintaining it. My dishwasher, washing machine and other home appliances I fix myself.
I'm good with my brain, really bad with my hands, I can diagnose but sure as hell I'm hiring someone to fix it and no, I don't care about a blow by blow account on what is wrong with the dishwasher, just fix it, bill me and if you absolutely must, tell me how to avoid the problem in the future if it was my fault.@flabdablet said:

@Master Chief said:Even iOS apps require tutorials or instructions, and those are about the most intuitive I've ever used
I never had a cellphone until recently, never read tutorials or instruction and I used it just fine, of course there is a basic knowl how that is present in other devices like PCs so that helps. I'm not saying documentations isn't a good idea, I'm saying that for basic operation in a cellphone there is little that needs to be learn if any. -

Obsly is 120% because not only all Seagate drives fail, but they induce failure in 20% of your other drives
Do those other drives therefore have a -20% failure rate? Or would that require that 20% of them shipped with a doubled capacity?
You deduce 20% from their base failure rate, if said drives are Seagate a reroll will occur and the reduction aura will be applied to your other non-Seagate hardware. If all your hardware is Seagate you will be purified by fire as the witch you are. -
