Need performance from your new MacBook Pro? Just keep it in the freezer
Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Pro can be upgraded to include a 6-core 2.9GHz Intel Core i9 processor that has demonstrated impressive performance, but the MacBook Pro chassis can't provide sufficient cooling for it to run at full speed.
According to his testing, the new machine is unable to maintain even its base clock speed after just a short time doing processor intensive work like video editing. It took 39 minutes for the 2018 MacBook Pro to render a video that the older model with a Core i7 was able to render in 35 minutes.
Lee ran the same test again with the 2018 MacBook Pro in the freezer, and the i9 chip was able to cut that render time down to 27 minutes and beat the 2017 MacBook Pro.

220V 30A Heated Shower Head -- Add a Jolt of Excitement to Showering
"We’ve seen the cute showerheads that change color, but those take batteries. What we are talking about here connects to the 220V main and draws 30A to instantly heat your shower water. Environmentally, that’s great since you don’t have a tank of water you keep heating and reheating just in case you need hot water. But you wouldn’t throw an AC radio in the tub, so you have to wonder just how safely this thing’s built. Well, you don’t have to wonder, because the videos below are going to show us"

Facebook will Fight Revenge Porn by Letting Potential Victims Upload Nudes in Advance
Wait . . . What?
This new protection system works similar to the child-porn detection systems in use at Facebook, and other social media companies. It works on a database of file hashes and when someone tries to upload an image marked as "revenge porn" in its database, the system will block the upload process.
In order to build a database of "revenge porn" file hashes, Facebook will rely on people uploading nude photos in advance. This process involves sending a nude photo to your own account, via Facebook Messenger, then reporting the photo to Facebook, which will create a hash of the image that will be used to block further uploads of the same photo.
What could possibly go wrong?

While getting my COVID test, the nurse asked "Have you experienced a loss of taste recently?"
I said "No, I 've dressed like this for a long time".

Let's create websites for non-existant products
Being old and cynical, I know I shouldn't be surprised by this, but, I have to admit, this one took me by surprise.
Back story: I use to own a Honda Element, a small SUV. Fuel economy was shit, due to being heavy and four wheel drive, but otherwise, it was a great car, especially for someone with a wheelchair. I would gladly buy another one, except Honda discontinued it 7 years ago. So I kept mine for as long as I could, and finally had to buy something else a few months ago.
So, my wife sends me a link to a website. Hey look at this, Honda is bringing back the Element next year. Lots of detailed information. Lots of comments from people who are excited about the new Element.
Great news.
Uh-oh.
The website looks a little dodgy. The text is awkward and reads like something that's been run through a translator a couple of times. OK, no problem, there are lots of shitty "product review" websites out there. I'll just Google "2019 Honda Element".
Uh-oh.
Lots of websites talking about a new Honda Element coming out "next year". Some as far back as early 2015. All with the same dodgy grammar. What doesn't show up in the search results is anything from Honda or any reputable publication.
And then it hit me.

Fake websites, probably set up to make some money from ads or malware.
So, I guess I'm TRWTF here. But, seriously, who would expect a dozen or more fake websites, about a car that was discontinued in 2011? Maybe I should write to Honda and tell them they many have underestimated the demand for their car.

It's not like he can complain about being charged too much rent for his living quarters...Don't be fooled by the basement shot. The rest of the place is pretty nice.
