Don't know about your side of the pond, in the UK those revolving doors have ultra-fine stop sensors -If you touch any part of the door as it turns, it stops in a instant - I've seen some blown in leaves stop the door!

RE: Java 7 - problems with HTTP connections
Make sure you've also installed the SDK first before trying to install the Eclipse plugin.

RE: Java 7 - problems with HTTP connections
It's annoying, but install the 32 bit JDK as well.
The Android Eclipse plugin works fine after that - I wouldn't be surprised if the other stuff works too.

Console.Beep() and morse code.
While this is an excellent method of outputing error messages it does not actually log them.
What I would do is connect a microphone to a second PC to record the error beeps. The only way to get the time that the beeps were emitted is to have a speakerphone permanently connected to the speaking clock and record this too.
Alternatively, instead of just a simple recorder on the other PC - have the software listen for a certain series of beeps (the start of the output) and then record the beeps, along with the date / time stamp

RE: MYSQL database sych live -> sandbox? How to w/ 25 gig remote DB?
Doesn't on older version of MySQL have the ability topull data from a live server - `LOAD DATA FROM MASTER`
Maybe downgrade your install and try that!

Pricing problems
Just seen this
Basically - The same page states that the price of 'Hour Shape' is £24.99 AND the same page is advertising this product at £19.99 - incidentally, clicking the ad link goes back to this page showing £24.99 and the advert again.
I actually found this by doing a google products search for this product which stated that it was £19.99.
I know, TRWTF is computing exercise tools

RE: Not IT WTF - IMDB errors
True - but I would expect someone to be able to program the automatic recommendation selector to distinguish a kids film and a horror! - Let's see, could we use genre (guess they must store that somewhere).
Also - it may help IMDB if they supplied a link next to the auto recommendations to report not suitable etc.
I know this is minor, but it made me smile when I saw it.

Not IT WTF - IMDB errors
Not IT related as such, but looking up details regarding Cars 2 (My 2 year old loves Cars!) and found that their suggested viewing is something I never considered along the lines of Cars.

Javascript setTimeOut problem
Hi,
Help!!
I'm not what I would describe as a newbie but I, for the likes of me, can't seem to understand why this doesn't work:
function buildZebraTable(tableId)
{
var table=document.getElementById(tableId);
if(!table){return};
var rows=document.getElementsByTagName('tr');
for(var i=0;i<rows.length;i++)
{
window.setTimeOut(changeRowBanding(rows,i), 1000);
}
}
function changeRowBanding(i)
{
var rows=document.getElementsByTagName('tr');
rows[i].className=!evenFlag?'oddrow':'evenrow';
evenFlag=!evenFlag;
}What I want it to do is just visually update the onscreen table row by row every second - some basic visual effect.
It works fine when it's not set in a setTimeOut, but once it is, I get a setTimeOut is not a
Any ideas? Thanks

Infinite quote project?
Yup
heh heh
Thats what I get for not scrolling down far enough (disregard my previous post)
How long until it blows up, I wonder?
I dunno.
soonish
well, the innermost quote box will eventually need to shrink to zero size.
Well at the rate we're going it's not going to take long hehe
It feels cool to have my post at the center of all this.
The reply page looks really strange
Well thats because we have an InifnitePost Syndrome going on here
Are we there yet?
We have to be getting close by now, right?
Nearly there, I guess.
/me will throw a /me in just for fun (watch what happens when you quote it :P)Dunno - trying.
The name after the / me changes to your name, rather than staying as mine (as it should - And does in SMF :))
I think we've just about blown it up - The innermost quote box is all squashed on my 1280x800 screen :PI wonder if I should do something about that - isn't it my duty as a moderator to stop such an abuse?
Good thing I just got a wide screen monitor. Looks fine here.
OMG it's gone mad.
Come on! Stop it already!
Good browser test :P
Reminds me of a Usenet Meow cascade!
I'll join in as well for the fun of it, it's also a good test for CS - See if there is a limit on quote blocks!
Scroll scroll scroll your bar, gently down the screen. Merrily merrily merrily merrily,...... erm... don't know how to finish it!

RE: How many people here are programmers?
Just an amateur myself.
like writing small apps, (don't shout at me!) in Pascal, mess with Javascript, php, mysql just looking at teaching myself asp.net and c#
Never had any formal training, just all self taught from the ol' 286 days, with dos then progressed onto 386 (got my bug for AMD processors from then!)
How I miss installing office 3 from about 45 floppies!!

Is this not redundant
Just taking a peak at the JS file on my works website and found this:
function _**********_h***************s()
{
if( this.m_array != null && this.m_array.length > 0 && this.m_currIndex < this.m_array.length )
{
return true;
}
return false;Correct me if I'm wrong but if the m_array.length >0 then it will mean it is not null anyway? - So there doing a double check to make sure that the array is empty?

dedupe software only £325
Simple, effective, works with most data
formats. Free trial download.
So for £325, you get software that runs 3 lines of code!

RE: Defragment your disk before data falls off!
Hi,
this is my first post, and it's only a small one, but I can't stop laughing about what the Admin in my company just told me:
He actually met a guy (a self-proclaimed computer expert) who insisted that disk fragmentation was the result of centrifugal force. The spinning disk - he said - was moving the data from the center to the outer regions and the defragmenter should be used regularly to put it back in place...
Since hearing this I've been very worried about my files...
Thank goodness someone told me, I wouldn't want little bits of data filling the bottom of my hard drive case, they may end up bending the platters if too much falls off!

RE: "How do I make Random the same number each time?"
And this, my friends, is the difference between knowing how to write code, and knowing how to program.

This is the difference of knowing mathematics and not! - or maybe just too many long hours in the office and not seeing the obvious of the routine!
-
RE: "How do I make Random the same number each time?"
I'm sorry, but I don't see it!
Could you just not use 1 or 2 instead of Rnd()? This is the same as using a non changing number isn't it? or have I completely misread the entire thing?

CMS
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone would recommend a good CM System.
To mainly show off products (not interested in a cart system at the moment (but may want to expand the CMS to include a cart system at a later date))
Basic funtions is not a problem, just wondered if there was a cheap and cheerful system out there or I may end up writing my own.
Would like possible like the ability to change themes easily.
Cheers!

Well, the auction has now ended and it has been sold for a mere $3,000,100.00!!!

RE: Zone Alarm Pro - True Vector engine
Yeah, the dialog box comes on (sometimes you don't even see it!!) when windows first boots up.
It does go away once the True Vector engine has started.
Just for some reason today it stayed there about 1 minute 30!!!
(Time to defrag me thinks!!)
It isn't that hard (surely) to get wording right, especially when your programming the dialog box yourself!!!
