RE: Try without Catch
@Cyresse said:
Erm, if you wanted to handle the exception at a higher level,can VB do this?
(Python stz)try:
foo()
except:
raise
finally:
bob()
Yep, you can throw a new exception in the catch.
Try
TestSub()
Catch
Throw New (What ever exception you want.)
Finally
Do something
End Try

RE: Too much of a good thing?
When I write code, I rarely comment the majority of the code. I just write a comment for the function as to its purpose, the prerequisites of the function and the expected output. I only comment the actual code when I need to remind myself why I did some "magical" programming, or where a bug/catch 22 may occur in certain situations. It is absolutly absurd to code each and every line or every other line. Commenting should be kept to a minimum and where needed.

Ok, stop with the Erk now, this is sample code.
<FONT size=+0>I guess fld2 is shorthand for field2 so couldn't you just do
</FONT><FONT size=+0>"SELECT fld2 FROM table" instead? That'll give a speed improvement.
Or, you even change your if/elseif to
SELECT FldID FROM table1 WHERE Fld2 = 1</FONT><FONT size=+0>Fld2 is either 1 or 2. I need all the fields from the table thats why i use "SELECT *" but only the ones with value 1 are displayed with a record count corresponding to the field Id of the fields with value 2. Its a complicated process.
recordsArray is supporsed to work as temp storage for easier sorting, like a query in MS ACCESS, so it is again looped for the display with the sorted records and corresponding counts.</FONT>
Allways avoid the "Select * from blah" whenever possible. Try to pinpoint exactly what you need inorder to keep overhead down. so the SELECT FldID FROM table1 WHERE Fld2 = 1 is a good idea to start with. Only select the columns that you need data from and always include a where clause when possible to minimize the processing you do on the client.

RE: Jacko innocent????
I agree. He should have been convicted but as said the prosecution did not have enough hard evidence against him. I think that the jury wanted to convict him but just could not based on the laws. Maybe the family will sue him in cival court and win a huge sum of money and Jackson will never pay it, just like OJ.[:P]

Just do what I do and make it the way the users want it (as long as that's possible), but put lots of scathing comments into the code about how retarded it is to do X in such a manner, but that the users wanted you to do X that way so you had to. The users get what they want, you get a little stress relief, and future developers will know you're not a no-talent ass-clown.
Completely Agree. Well said. CYA Bigtime!! (CYA = Cover Your ASS) Comment, Comment and Comment your code especially when you are doing someting really weird that could end up being posted here... Just kidding on the posted here part! [:D]

Also- -FREQUENTLY- clocks skew too much and you can't rely on IT to get their act together, so you pick a time authority like the most important DB and get on with it.
Don't you know IT staff have more important things to do than to walk around the office, setting computer clocks to the right time?Geez, what the hell is this NTP thingy? I turned it off on all my rooters because it didn't look important. But, why won't my Windows stations syncronize with the time server? [:P] </SARCASM>

the [:@] water point it's true, if you drink normal water out of the city you are living, you need to know you better drink "bottle" water ... but I recommend you drink red wine like "rioja" [;)]
In the Netherlands, the tap water is of the same quality as bottled water that you can buy in the shops. Meaning that it's perfectly fit for human consumption. The reason why this is possible is because the waterpipe system in the Netherlands is pretty modern but also because temperatures here are generally low enough to keep it all fresh. In southern countries the tap water is often unfit for consumption because of the higher temperatures that seem to have some influence on the growth of anything nasty in the water. Even bottled water can be dangerous there if kept outside in the heat for about a month. You need to keep it cool for it to be drinkable.Ewww, I would never drink water in a foreign country... I don't need a case of Montezuma's Revenge!! Only liquor and beer for me [:P]

I never have had a speeding ticket either, but a few friends of mine have had them in the $400-$500 range. And then the insurance companies add 4 points to our insurance per ticket (which adds a substancial increase to our insurance for at least 5 years) They charge us a base $75 for the first 10 MPH over and $10 for each MPH beyond the first 10 mph. Plus they add a $75 charge to the ticket for some handy cap program. So, a speeding ticket costs a minimum of $150 here. Oh, and if you are caught speeding in a work zone, they double the ticket, so it now is a $300 minimum. [:^)]

Wow... Let me see. €1 is about $1.20 if I'm correct so $2.15 would be €1.80... Okay, still €0.50 more than a liter here but keep in mind... A gallon is between three and four liters. So it's still extremely cheap in my opinion...
And 30 miles to a gallon? That would be 50 KM for about 3.5 liters? Drive that car here in the Netherlands and you'll be dead-broke within weeks... [:P] I envy you for those low prices...
Well a few years ago I was paying $0.89 per gallon so, I am already broke[:P]. It just hit 2.20 per gallon today. [:(]

Well, it used to be 1.28 per liter a few weeks ago. And it has been even cheaper too. But these days the price of gas is pretty high. And then to think of all those Americans who probably pay the same amount for a gallon instead of a liter. That's unfair!!! [:(]
In the good USA, we are now paying $2.15 per gallon in our area. In Los Angeles I hear it is up to $2.40 per gallon. YIKES!! Thank goodness my car gets 30 miles to the gallon! [:D]
