RE: No Man's Sky
Well, this is just from 2 hours, so YMMV, but it's decently fun. The 'survival' aspect doesn't seem much of a time sink as:
A) The things that you need for survival are the same stuff you need for exploration
B ) Nothing has really been pushing me outside of 'get stuff for your ship to do all the ship things. All I CAN say is that I started the game and then suddenly it was 2.5 hours later. Hopefully it won't disappoint as I get farther.

RE: This sex toy tells the manufacturer every time you use it
I mean, i'd be one thing to ask, but just kinda collecting the info's a little creeps. I know there are a lot of people who grew up in a culture where sex is kinda this big 'do not talk about' thing, but as long as you don't ask for details I'm not comfortable sharing, it wouldn't bother me to answer.

See, the problem THERE is that a properly designed toy has a base that is significantly larger than the widest part of the bulb. In THAT case, someone should have told them "Naw man" and sold them something else.

Why would I want the average velocity of my thrusts?
Unless you are having sex in a moving vehicle of some sort, one does not need an I.Con to determine that. The average velocity is going to be pretty nearly zero; your location will be the same as it was when you started. Your average speed, on the other hand, is potentially meaningful information — useless and stupid, perhaps, but not guaranteed to be zero.
According to them:
i.Con will record:- Calories burnt during sexual intercourse
- Speed of thrusts
- Total number of thrusts
- Frequency of sessions
- Total duration of sessions
- Average velocity of thrusts
- Girth measurement
- Different positions used (currently BETA testing – will have more info in a release coming soon)
- Average skin temperature
Some stand outs are Girth Measurement (I mean, can't you just get a tape measure) and the beta testing for Positions used. While I have no doubt that this will be ass, I really do wonder how you beta test that. You'd need a pretty good range of people to test out your Weird Dick Metric Collector (TM) to have anything approaching accurate, and that doesn't nearly keep up with the amount of sex positions invented on a monthly basis.

RE: The Official Status Thread
So my ISP just called to offer to upgrade my internet speeds to 80, 110, or 200 Megagigs! How exiting!

@sloosecannon Maybe my marriage is so strong the pair of us are matched as a single character?
.... wait, does that mean threesomes? I'm going to choose to interpret that as having kinky threesoms.
...but hopefully not with UTF-16-year-olds...
I would also not be alright with that age range.
Threesomes are awkward if you're not sure if you need to bring water, Gatorade or Capri-sun

RE: i.Con Smart Condom
That seems like a lot more work than I'd wanna put into it. Besides, people get weirded out when you ask them Survey questions

RE: Hahah it's still shit
So, when you get to your profile, there's three icons that show up in that blank space and mousing over them does NOT tell you what they do.

RE: The Official Funny Stuff Thread™
@Luhmann That's.... wow. How about a focus group of people who have spent any significant time around anyone that has periods.

RE: i.Con Smart Condom
Sooo...No where can I see what the things made of, so you possibly CAN'T boil it. I mean, if it's not made out of a safe material, I wouldn't want it by my junk anyway.
Also, the 'metrics' that it measures are...really weird. Why would I want the average velocity of my thrusts?

RE: Recruiting Giants
Wow. I have had at least three separate sources this week bring up this story and every single time I see it, I feel a little worse that one of my favorite hobbies has people like that who think that people are like batteries or some kinda crap like that. Obviously they should just try better and then they wouldn't complain about never getting to sleep and that their stress is literally killing them.
It's this super high level of insanity that I just...how does no one ever stare at the guy when he's saying this like he just decided to take a crap on the boardroom table?

RE: Recruiting Giants
Or worse, they think that it's all fun and they think you'll want to work on their project for 'exposure', which is bullshit.
Exposure is what you get when you just show your stuff off to people. That can be done in a freaking park.
If you have anything like 'Reviews' or 'Deadlines' or 'It's not quite the right sort of UI. Can you make sure it has a slot for microtransactions' you should be paid. If not for the work, for you to not slap someone.

yes, but the chances of that are incredibly rare...
So you're playing always-connected single player, with all the technical difficulties of multiplayer and close to zero chances of actually having another player even get close since the world is so vast?
I think they simply didn't think it through. Because God would that be dumb.
I believe they took the 'always online' stuff out of it and you just need a connection to upload your stuff. We had a power flicker that knocked out the internet for a good bit during my first play session and it didn't boot me out of the game. Gonna double-check later, tho.
Edit: Yeah, apparently the only thing online lets you do right now is share your discoveries. Everything else you can do regardless of on or offline.

RE: Hahah it's still shit
@blakeyrat Because everyone must have gone through psychic training to know what any of the arbitrary symbols mean.
Side note: I'm getting something weird where @Matches upvotes a post, or it says he upvoted a post, and when I click on the notification, there's no upvotes on the post. It that or another broken thing?

RE: No Man's Sky
Okay, I'd also been playing for a while and thought that had to do with the upgrades over all, not that having them next to one another actually gave you bonuses, so it's at least a little obtuse.
And, while Minecraft totally DOES let you discover recipes and the like, it's be a lot more trouble if you were penalized for experimentation. If you were able to move the mods after you placed them, then yeah. Totally fine to discover that. If you have to disassemble and completely rebuild them in the right place, something that might make you go hunting a kinda long way for the resources to do so, then I'd also be a bit put out. I mean, that matters a little less with the Exo-suit, since those nodes are fixed, but if there is different suits, then I'd still be annoyed about it.
So in THAT reguard, I kinda think @blakeyrat has a point. The game penalizes you for experimentation in a way that Minecraft doesn't. That said, I still like the game. Having a blast with it so far and it's actually kinda chill to pick a planet and see what I can get done for a couple hours. I'm just not gonna say that the experimentation for THAT is a simple thing, especially since if you could move said mods after building them, then it's much more likely to be discovered.
