Well thank you all the same. You've allowed me to provide adequate time for other people to share their points of view by necroing the thread!

RE: Hey, look, it's us!
I love your tie. It's great to have technical discussions about the features in Discourse with you!

RE: New feature request
If this suceeds, it will be good for the forum. If this fails, it will be good material for the forum. Please proceed.

they don't test their uninstallers
We're lucky they're testing something in the first place!

RE: Pagination good practice
Let's raise the bar.
phpBB with some handmade modules.
Deal with it.

RE: Pagination good practice
Or you could realize I just chose the first proper image on google images with the query "litteral toast notification" and couldn't care less about the text :rage4: (<- discourse has some really great smileys )

RE: Trainwrecks. Watch them? Prevent them?
Every one in the UX field knows you should never give meaning to colors, because no one has the same ideas about them, and because it will handicap the colorblindsā¦

RE: Pagination good practice
Blakey rejects the differentiation between an online persona and a real persona.
You mean he embraces it?
-
RE: Windows 8 Mouse
No one mentioned this, but I actually use Ctrl-R to refresh pages. Firstly because F5 is not as convenient to use as you would think, and secondly because of this whole Fn-"features" nightmare.

RE: š£ Things Our Customers Have Said About Discourse Thread
Wait Ony are you too dumb to understand how this clever feature works? Come on, we're trying to build the future here!

RE: š£ Things Our Customers Have Said About Discourse Thread
You said that twice :(

Jeff Atwood.
Any quotation by him would make this topic hilarious btw. For instance:
So long and thanks for all the bugs!

RE: Pagination good practice
I believe that the cursor normally goes to the end of the field though.
Proof this is obviously a feature!

RE: Pagination good practice
That's because the normal behaviour of a browser is not to autoselect input fields' content on focus. You wouldn't expect a web software to alter a browser's default behaviour, now, or would you?!

RE: Pagination good practice
Brilliant comment!
I love the part where they say that suggesting a "go to page" text input is a way to compensate over the lack of good pagination system.
That's totally the worst thing about the post count green thingie (what's it even called?) on Discourse: going to the beginning of a topic takes two click and a reloading on the DOM-removed elementsā¦

Pagination good practice
It's been a while since we've had some proper conversation about pagination (like, two weeks or something)!
Do you guys feel anything is missing on that list?
Cheers

RE: Representative lines from a view file
I'd take being close-minded and arrogant (thank you btw!) with jQuery over anything else.
And I do use it. And I use it right. And I know how bad the native DOM API is in Javascript.Doesn't mean I find the current situation normal and a big +1Ā for blakeyrat. HTML5 didn't fix anything. WTF are you doing, W3C?!

Nah the sex mensurations I would have understood, whereasĀ I had absolutely no idea what they meant with 2Ć4!

RE: Discourse having trouble with topic ids again
Am I wrong that this bothers me to such an extend? Maybe... I leave it up for other people to decide.
Admin can technically go to the database to read the MPs themselves. I'm guessing the fact they have to go on another profile and click the "impersonate" button was enough of a barrier for them to think twice about what they were going to do.
If they are crazy-stalkers they would be able to do it anyway.
The "report" feature is already available with flagging, as said in meta.

RE: How not to comment
Hmm not exactly, it's also hugely inconstistent and WTF-prone to use the same prefix as in the metric unit (k, M, G) with a different meaning.
-
RE: How not to comment
As much as I agree with you about kibibytes, the same can be said about metric units against imperial units, so 'fuck that'.
-
RE: How not to comment
Well TBH IĀ don't know if I'll forget what variables look like or what a kilobyte is first. I knew computer units before programming.

RE: How not to comment
$segment_size = 8192; // $segment_size is a variable because it starts with a dollar sign
-
RE: How not to comment
Some guy at IBM said that if after reading all your comments you can't understand what a code does, you should throw the whole thing away.
Maybe you'll forget what 8192 means, why wouldn't you?

RE: The compose panel is a barrier to the sandwich menu (ļ)
I was kidding, I'll obviously be using the great search feature of discourse. It's been implemented by a capable open source team led by a developer whose clear vision helped build the best developer forum called Stackoverflow.
