The footage of the original moon landing was broadcast from space to the Parks radio telescope in Australia in some obscure video format that nobody knew how to convert. So the footage that everyone saw on their TV of the moon landing, and the footage that people still see of the moon landing was actually made using this same technique!
They couldn't convert the signal, so they set up a video camera pointing at the monitor that received the original footage - thats why its so god-dammed blurry. The original footage was actually at a good resolution and very crisp, but NASA lost the tape after the Aussies sent it to the US... So now we're stuck with the video'ed video version...
