You poor SOB's you will never know without experiencing random.
Finding stuff you completely forgot is electrifying..
-
@spectateswamp I have kids. I experience plenty of random.
-
Guess who'll curate the frozen samples for future newbies and Pot lovers to test... Meeeee
Nobody shares Pot knowledge better than this

@spectateswamp Random? Electrifying? Frozen Samples? Mice?

Eww. I really don't want to think about the kind of samples that get frozen.

@hardwaregeek Still trying to figure out whether to open that pdf in a container, in a vm, trick someone else into doing it (preferably on a different network) or the most likely option of never looking at it altogether.

This.

@pie_flavor Woohoo! Option 3, thanks, although, in hindsight, Option 4 looks pretty good still.
-
@pie_flavor I wonder what percentage of the Osoyoos electorate are sufficiently stoned that they'd vote for Swampy.
-
@hardwaregeek No, the idea is that he'll let them get stoned so they'll reelect him.

Probably a very high percent... This is the center of B.C. Bud country..

You don't have to be stoned to vote for Swampy but it sure helps.

I have to agree with this. I found £5 down the back of my sofa the other day, and felt like I'd won the world cup.

Google does have a random button. It's just named weirdly.
-
@magus It's not really random, just shows the first result.
-
@the_quiet_one "The first result" meaning...? These days you can't type into the home page and then press the button, because the button doesn't exist once you type.
-
@magus I see what happens if you use it without typing anything, but I still see the button after I have, and it works the way it has always in that case.
The button as I see it behaves by randomly choosing "I'm feeling X" options, which I guess is kinda random, but the results of each random question is still pretty predictable.
-
@the_quiet_one there's probably a pretty small whitelist of things it'll randomly search for.
-
@anotherusername I suppose that rules out "getting lucky."
-
You'll know real random when you see it.
I know most of these comments here would be more interesting if they were RANDOM
Random isn't of much use if you have no data.I love sampling my data randomly and by search.
Sure would be nice to see Google do that but then what would the page rankings do. Fooie
No money in that..

When I read text like this, I start to suspect I'm dreaming, because one of the tell signs for me is that text is meaningless gibberish. But it doesn't change into something else when I look away, so I guess I'm awake.

Why are there 88798 water beans in your sycophant pants, and what are they doing to your tree?
-
@hardwaregeek Jabberwockey spindle handlebar knee.
-
@magus If there's a Jabberwocky in your sycophant pants, you've got a bigger problem than a hill of water beans.
-
@hardwaregeek Making sense of randomness is the opposite of the purpose of these posts.
-
@magus They make more sense than some of the posts I read here.

There's a Jabberwocky off the coast of Brazil? OK, whatever.

Well, no; you're not in the Philippine Sea, are you?
Also, the 3m x 3m square contains an infinite number of points, so it's not at all clear which one you consider the point.

IMHO, that's a much better place for it than in his sycophant pants.

You won't, though, that's why there's the NIST suite.

This all reminds me of my first real encounter with RANDOM
We wanted to set up a Christmas pool with liquor awards..
Way back in 1973
There were 117 tickets sold...
the first, 10, 20, 30 etc selections were awarded a bottle of beer
The 25 55 75 were awarded a bottle of wine.
the final one was awarded a Texas mickey (large large whiskey bottle)
Every ticket was selected... for each ticket, we had nasty winning and losing comments
We all gathered around for the draw..
When there were 10 or fewer tickets remaining we would list out the people in the running.
What fun it was.. Random rules.
-
@spectateswamp You must get orgasmic during lottery drawings. I hope you don't do anything inappropriate at those bars and restaurants that have Keno.
-
@spectateswamp This sounds like the worst party ever, worse than paying for a cup, you're paying for the chance for a cup, so hey, anybody live in a college town? I got an idear.
