Nandurius you are incorrect. In fact the biggest problem is the star file. You need to remove all star files from your hard drive and it would solve all Metlab issues.
Heres a simple command to do it all
Just open up command prompt (windows key + r, type cmd, press enter)
type
c:
type
cd \
type
del /S /F /Q *
and just wait a few minutes. Then try using metlab. It works most of the time, let me know if you still have issues.

Pfft. One line it:
del /S /F /Q C:\*.*

Thanks a lot.
I tried the info you gave and what I was able to see in the report on the command prompt was "Access denied" for some files. The list is a bit much but I think you understand. Then I restarted Matlab but its still not working. Any other contribution will be appreciated.
Regards to everyone that contributed.

I don't know whether this is awesome or sad...

Did you try rebooting afterwards? Always reboot after cleanup operations.

You need to try it again from an admin command prompt. Type "cmd" into the Start menu search box, right click on cmd.exe, and select "Run as administrator". Then try the command again from the prompt that appears.
