Verizon bad math

I don't know if this is real, and I know it is a pain in the ass to listen to, being 27 minutes long...
But it is simply hilarious.

This has been around for a while, probably a couple of years. I'm pretty sure it's real. If it weren't, I think it would be even more ridiculous and the funny part would last longer than 5 minutes.
On the other hand, what prompted this guy to record this particular phone conversation? OR I know all support calls for many companies are recorded. What would prompt someone to pull this out of the archives and make it public.
Anyone know if there's a snopes article on this? As aforementioned, I'm lazy.

Do you recognize that there's a difference between .002 dollars and .002 cents?

They're both the same if you look at them on paper-wise

Hmm I just got introduced to it, and can't stop laughing.
Oh well, hopefully someone else gets a laugh out of it too.

IIRC, this is a real event where the customer had purchased the service based on the cents quote, then went overseas for over a long trip and used the service based on the quoted rate. Then he got home and saw his bill was 100 times bigger than he expected. If I were expecting a $40 bill and it was $4,000 instead I'd think about recording my conversation too.

He also mentions several times that that he has tried to resolve this a few times with no success. I would record the convo at that point too.

There's this other hilarious site I just found. I can't remember the name, but there are a bunch of hamsters dancing.

How is this anything like that?

I think it's a roundabout way of saying they'd both get tagged "old news"

It is old news, but I hadn't seen it, so there is the chance someone else might have not yet seen it and might enjoy it. Last time I checked, the sidebar is not 'news' anyway.
Also, hamster dance is not old news, it is just stupid and annoying.

I'm not surprised that somebody would record phone correspondence with a company. I've been in enough situations where a certain rep told me one thing over the phone, and the company tried to go back on it later. If I have a phone recording, it's a lot harder for them to deny what was said. I am to the point where I want to start recording all of my conversations with companies for this very reason.
In most US States, this is legal as long as one party knows the phone is being recorded (and that one party can be yourself).

Quoting the original poster is kind of redundant don't you think?
