We're sorry, we don't know where you are, please reply...

  • So it seems that Citibank has had a statement for my wife's credit card returned to them as "undeliverable". Now for a fact, I know that our mail man is a complete retard and occasionally delivers mail to wrong buildings so I am not surprised if some shit like this happened... But heres the funny part...

Citibank did NOT call us to tell this to us... No, they sent my wife a letter... to the suposebly "undeliverable" address. It of course got delivered and it states "We are sorry but it seems that your current address does not exist, please reply to this letter with your corrected address."

  • If I may play Devil's advocate (and I don't mean the pinball game), Citibank is probably thinking that your wife's request to have the post office forward her mail is stuck in red tape or it has just fallen behind a desk for 90 something years. So sending another request might make it after the forward request is found and find it's way to the right hands.

Then again this is probably all automated and when ever they get a letter back for any reason (bad address, stamp fell off, coffee spill obscuring the address), they send another email asking for another address.

  • It's about snail mail, baby. They sent an envelope, not an email.

Any other month we got a statement from Citibank. We didn't change address...

There was no request for mail forwarding.

As to the last point... Right so they got a letter back saying its undeliverable (it was in the letter we received), so naturally they send another letter to the undeliverable address instead of CALLING or EMAILING... Right...

To make things even dumber that was because they sent a solicitation, and the solicitation was thrown back as undeliverable. AND wait it gets better, the letter was in the exact shape of her statements and even the same format just had some different info and stated that the last mail was actually her statement. *sigh* I guess the bar is lifted slightly higher for the definition of incompetence.

  • This is what happens when the bosses dictate policy and then hire robots to enforce it. It's how the vast majority of companies operate, so I don't even blink at moronic replies from large companies any more.

  • They use western names because they have a somewhat different view on it. They make up names just because it's suppposed to be useful to you, not them.

At least that's what my Malay friend Eric told me.
