@izzion i can’t wait for someone to go through the stored images and wonder why there is so many cow memes.

If someone figures out how to convert cow farts into clean power, then the AI being trained on our memes would be cows all the way down.
-
@hungrier it's heartwarming to see that after war crimes he turned to a successful YouTube channel. Got to love a good redemption arc.

Was it washed or chased ashore? Do unimaginable horrors dwell in the depths?

@DogsB washed ashore implies it was dead before it came ashore. If it was chased ashore then I'd expect it to have beached itself.

FYI, for most people it's over 25 days.

Three minutes without air, three days without water, three weeks without food.
I forget where I was taught those rules of thumb. Scouts, maybe?
-
@Parody If so, then mine was more accurate than the Scouts. But it was just an easy to remember generality.
It's actually longer than 25 days. For the average First Worlder, a 25 day fast is good for them.
-
So is there too much autism or too little?
-
-
-
@DogsB said in Today in reading the headlines...:
This is consistent with what I have been saying for a long time. You will hear people note that the rate of autism has been increasing in recent decades, and they will then go on to attribute a cause to the increase.
Whereas I contest that an increase in diagnosed cases of autism means an increase in autism. There are not fully objective criteria for autism, and psychiatrists and psychologists are not immune to diagnostic trends. And many shrinks will give seat-of-the-pants diagnoses rather than consulting the DSM and filling out a checklist to see if the patient meets the criteria.
Up to 90% of autists are also mentally retarded. (The exact percentage varies from study to study.) In the past, it seemed less important to give a person who was clearly mentally retarded the additional diagnosis of autism.

What if you exclude Americans?
-
@Gustav You may have said it as a troll, but it's a legitimate question.
But I read a book on fasting in the 1970's, and it recommended fasting until your hunger returns (it goes away after 3 days), which is generally at about the 25 day mark. Although Americans are fatter than Europeans, I would bet that 2024 Europeans are as fat as 1970's Americans.

@DogsB What kind of effect should it have? Increase chocolate sales? Decrease it?
What about combined packages of chocolate and Wegovy?
Btw, why do I tend to read it as a word, i.e.Węgovy
? (węgiel means coal)
