Password managers

I've been using 1Password for a long time. I've had a paid license to v4 and v7, but with the current v8 they no longer offer a perpetual license option. Recently, they've started popping up a warning that the v7 browser extension doesn't support Manifest V3, so they're dropping support for it in Chrome. This is a dealbreaker for me.
I'm looking for an alternative password manager. It looks like there are a lot of options available. I don't mind paying for it but I don't want a subscription. Can anyone make a recommendation?

I have used keepass for a long time, I have it as fully standalone but it has an extensive plugin library.

Can I write my own plugins? That would be a huge plus for me.
Edit: looks like yes, and it's in C#, which I'm already fluent in. Nice.
Editedit: It looks like I could even fork the client, if that's a rabbithole I feel like jumping into

I'm using the Bitwarden browser extension in conjunction with a self-hosted copy of Vaultwarden (which implements the same protocol).
I'm still paying Bitwarden the $10/year subscription to support their development, but if they go away I don't lose any functionality.

@error I'm using the free version of bitwarden, as that is the free one that let me share the same password between my devices, the others I found wanted a paid account for that, so I didn't test them

Same here, and the android client keeps getting better and better.
The downside is the native mac client sucks. No s3 support, and very basic functionality. Good thing I've got parallels.

KeePass with the KeeAnywhere and AutoTypeSearch plugins on the desktop, and Keepass2Android on, well, Android.
-
KeePassXC for Windows and macOS with Strongbox for iOS. Synced between devices using OneDrive.
-
+ for that setup except I omit the silly in favor of Keepass2Android.
No thrills but it just works.

gopass
with the QTpass frontend on the desktop and browser extensions for FF and Chromium and "Password Store" on Android, synced via git.

Any particular advantages compared to other KeePass-like apps in the AppStore, or just what you picked? Also, do you use the paid pro-version and if so, for what features?
Synced between devices using OneDrive.
Does it support other sync methods? For cloud storage, I got OwnCloud / NextCloud, but would probably prefer to just AirDrop things to/from the mac.

I've only tried KeePassium and Strongbox. I used KeePassium for ages and when it works it works really well but it kept failing to open the database saying the file was unavailable. It was an annoying intermittent issue that didn't seem to be caused by OneDrive.
I tried Strongbox instead as it's got similar features and I wanted to see if the issue happened with another app. I've not had the issue since so stuck with it.I've got the paid version solely for FaceID/TouchID unlock. KeePassium has that for free.

It does have others but I've not tried them. It supports opening the database from Files (as does KeePassium) so the AirDrop method should be fine.

$19 a year is a lot for FaceID... Guess I don't need that.

Probably. It's not essential for sure but it's convenient and to type the database password in each time.

@loopback0 The rest of it looks cool. I'm currently using KeePass Touch on the phone and just the built-in firefox password manager on the mac, manually backing up the keepass file every once in a while. Might try StrongBox for both and just dump the db onto iCloud, in fact, as it's well encrypted anyway.

As a really lazy old fart , I have Firefox saving the passwords for me. Easy, worx. Dangerous, yes. ?

Based on your recommendations, I'm looking closely at KeePass.
I like what I see, but what I don't see is the ability to save other the important/sensitive data I'm currently storing in 1Password. I have my credit cards, drivers license info, software licenses, etc all in 1Password. It looks like I'd have to save that stuff as additional metadata fields in KeePass.
-
@error
Yes. The base application doesn't have 'templates' although some solutions do offer some template thing for exactly those things you mention based on the addtional fields.

http://keepass.info/ allows comments and file attachments (might do more, but that's all I use)
