It's more complicated than a bread box... as far as a tech writer can tell they're replacing the links with the contents of War & Peace.

There is no option currently to prevent Facebook's tracking of users via links. Users could avoid Facebook, but that may not be possible all the time.
Fuck right off, it's entirely possible to leave that shit to die and if everyone just did that we'd be rid of one mental plague at least.
Now that I think of it... Did I block everything facebook in my router already?

Indeed. Despite my best efforts, once or twice a year I accidentally click a link that takes me to a Facebook page. forcing me to hit the Back button as soon as I realise what I just did.
