I'm having some weird connection issues.
Last week Monday I tried to visit the forums. I received a 403 Forbidden. This was from my work laptop. Now, my work is implementing a new internet security tool (Netskope), and it's in its POC phase. So they are continually making changes to it. And, since it's in its POC phase, we are allowed to disable it for now. I thought that the problem might be part of this, even though I didn't get the standard "Prohibited site usage" message I usually get for visiting the wrong website. So I turned it off and tried again. This worked. I'm still WFH, so I turned on my home PC and started browsing from there. And life was good.
On Tuesday though, I got the 403 from my home PC as well. I tried a few times, and after a half an hour or so, it connected successfully. And later 403'd again. This went on for the rest of the week.
Somewhere along the line, I tried from my phone using my mobile network. I waited until my home PC 403'd, and tested my phone. I did this more than once and it worked each time. Meanwhile, my work laptop is still 403'ing permanently with Netskope enabled.
So I'm not sure where the problem could lie. Obviously Netskope is now blocking the site on my work laptop, but my suspicion is that it's because something changed on WTDWTF, not on Netskope, due to the timing of my home PC also 403'ing. I also considered that Netskope might be accessing my home router, but all the restricted websites work on my home PC.
TL;DR:
TDWTF 403's permanently on my work laptop with internet security enabled
TDWTF 403's intermittently on my work laptop with internet security disabled
TDWTF 403's intermittently on my home PC
TDWTF works fine on my mobile network

@Vault_Dweller the server was recently put behind Cloudflare. I don't know the details. I guess it's an Inedo thing.
-
@boomzilla I don't know if it's related, but I seem to be getting the "disconnected" toaster more often lately. It usually happens when my computer is bogged down — out, or nearly out, of memory and/or space for the pagefile — but sometimes it pops up for no obvious reason. I hadn't seen that for quite a while. It seems like it started 2 or 3 days ago.
-
@HardwareGeek I don't know when, exactly, the change was made but I noticed it last Wednesday, May 26th when I couldn't ssh into the server. That was when @apapadimoulis told me about Cloudflare and gave me the actual IP address.
I don't know exactly when, but I believe sometime between May 20th and May 26th.

You have to plug toasters in or they do nothing to the bread.

I have no idea
Cloudflare can do "edge caching" which is supposed to add MUCH SPEED and whatnot, so I thought that'd be good and enabled it. Has anyone noticed anything FASTER?
They also apparently block bots and attacks. I don't know the details, but I wonder if you're on this list...
Anyways, I don't know the details, but I just change the "Security Level" on the "Firewall" to "Basically Off" which is the lowest setting available.
I can also disable proxying through Cloudflare altogether.

They're also no fun in the bathtub since they installed GFCI.

@error I thought that was more @Lorne-Kates's sort of fun than yours. I mean, I've heard of using electricity for your kind of fun, but that seems like .

Why would you do that? Do you like your toast getting soggy?

You gotta throw it into the tub when

If there's one thing I've learned from Cutthroat Kitchen: there's no saving soggy bread.

Bob Dobbs can save soggy bread.

Back on topic:
Yesterday I was busy, so I only visited the site once, and it worked fine. This morning I got a 403 again. It's obviously been resolved now.

hacks. Hacks!

Update: I am now working from another network, and the site is working perfectly, even behind Netskope. So the problem is with my home network, or possibly ISP.

Don't let your ISP know what sites you visit! Sign up for shit VPN and hide your ass online!
