Tales from Stack Exchange - A lesson from Jeff about moderation
-
I originally mentioned this in Tales from Stack Exchange - Coworker is lying about having kids. What should I do?
, but I thought it deserved a wider audience...said:
Moderators are supposed to be exemplars of 99% good community behavior, and part of good community behavior is recognizing problem behaviors -- even your own!
recognizing problem behaviors -- even your own
recognizing problem behaviors -- even your own
recognizing problem behaviors -- even your own
recognizing problem behaviors -- even your own
Filed under: Did he seriously write that? The irony is strong with this one.
-
@DoctorJones Like I said in the other thread: Jeff was an administrator / founder, not a moderator.
-
@JBert do as I say, not as I do. I'm different!
-
/looks at present day moderator list.
No problems with that here, nosiree!

Alanis Morissette called. She wants her irony back.

That's different.
So, Jeff is a mobile?

If so, he's an iFĂĽn.

I thought he was more like a car?

@djls45 From the famous Jeff excuse of "Oh, mobile. That's different" (or something like that)
-
@TimeBandit Yeah, I know that. I was recontextualizing it. :)

Nope, there aren't any problems with it. ;)

If we're going for car analogies I would compare him to a BMW SUV driver: rage inducing, always plowing straight ahead until, without blinking, he turns left.

The self-awareness is not.

No, someone who spends all his money on a custom paint job, gold-plated wheels and (fake luxury brand) badge, "sports car" exhaust resonators, and a sound system that shakes the fenders off, for a car with 3 cylinders, bad suspension, and no brakes (but that doesn't matter, because it doesn't run anyway).

"Problem behaviours" would first require any behaviours
-
@hungrier is a behaviou?r. It's a passive behaviou?r, but it is a behaviou?r.
