So email almost literally everyone should have received by now:
Sweet, let's GDPR that shit!
This might take a while...
-
Here's hoping they don't break this:
This "brand account" that is owned by my personal account is the container for much of my email (as it has its own email address) and files (as it has its own Google Drive too) and other things like Chrome bookmarks sync. I'll have to remember to back it all up before the shutdown date just in case. It is no longer possible to create this sort of setup, I have no idea how long they will support it.

I forgot I can do that. Imma try it out.
2GB. This might take more of a while.

You know, I don't think I ever got that promised email.
Let's see...
... Um....
-
@Tsaukpaetra That screenshot reminds me: I must uninstall Google Music Manager from this machine, as it hates it when I restart.

This notice from Google appeared on my Blogger dashboard today:
Following the announcement of Google+ API deprecation scheduled for March 2019, a number of changes will be made to Blogger’s Google+ integration on 4 February 2019...
That was yesterday.
Google+ Comments: Support for Google+ comments will be turned down, and all blogs using Google+ comments will be reverted back to using Blogger comments. Unfortunately, comments posted as Google+ comments cannot be migrated to Blogger and will no longer appear on your blog.
Who has been using Google+ comments? I wonder how many old comments I'm losing!
-
Remember when everyone was complaining about Google slapped Google+ comments and YouTube comments together?
I'm 1% curious about what is going to happen when Google+ goes away.

I kinda wish it would show what position you are in the queue. You're probably number 404.

This is interesting, Google+ custom URLs will no longer work. My channel has two custom URLs, one from YouTube that I prefer and one from Google+ that I was an idiot the day I made it. Here's hoping I get to keep the YouTube one.

This isn't going far enough, remove all the YouTube comments, too.
And perma-ban every retard commenting "who else listens to this in $current_year".

After March 7, 2019, notifications for Google web products will no longer be accessible from the navigation bar. If you'd like to receive similar notifications in the future, you can update the notification settings for your individual Google products.

@Tsaukpaetra So some notes about what Google seems to
knowtell me about me:My browsing history spans 119 MB.
I've taught it two different capitalization variants of my name. And Uncustomizable.I've apparently clicked the +1 button several times
I've uploaded 1.3 GB of video/photos to posts
I've uploaded 52 GB of video to YouTube
Not shabby.
-
Fine's finally ready.
- Some random comments on blogs that I guess were run by Blogger
- Bookmarks for some css sites. I don't remember making those in 2009. Maybe I accidentally used Chrome once?
- 100kb of calendar stuff. Seems right.
- Browser history - a bunch of posts to https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/24663/lorne-is-at-a-giant-theater-performing-for-all-of-china because at the time I had to use Chrome on my other phone to get this site to work. Nothing else Browser related because fuck you, Google.
- No web printers
- Contacts. Yup, that'd be from my phone and Gmail. Including what I assume are some butt-dial equiv for contacts:
- Quite a bit on Drive from Google Docs and Sheets (I've used them as scratchpads before, and some other non-important stuff if I'm on the go)
- A bunch in Fit, because that's the only way I could use my step-tracker app that gave me points. Oh well, Google already knows what area I live in. If I were to request anything be purged...
- G Suite Marketplace. wat teh fux? Nothing in here, never heard of it.
- I have a "Google My Business" account with no activity
- There's all my Play Store app purchases. Not much, really. A few games and utilities.
- The usual photos-as-attachments. Nothing incriminating.
- Google Play books, just some public domain demos. I uninstalled that app anyways
- Google Play movies, nothing because fuck you online strea{buffering}ming you can go to {this episode is not available in your region}
- Google Play Store - again, app purchases, downloads, updates, etc. I'd expect that to be tracked.
- Google Shopping - nothing. Guess I missed my opportuninty to use THAT wonderful ecommerce platform.
- Hangouts - photos in there, not going too far back, I guess since Chat became Hangouts
- Home App - nothing. Seriously, how many of these fucking uesless things does Google start then abandon?
- Location History - hmm, I was expecting this to be blank, but there's 50k of data between March & October 2018. I THINK I might have accidentally turned on High Accuracy Location when I didn't need to.
- Maps - one labelled place that looks like it was just a misclick
- My Activity - They just keep making up different ways of tracking, don't they? There's a couple entries on Mar 3 2018-- I think that's the first time I used my current phone? I'm sure i turned off that feature right away.
- My Maps - which is, of course, different from Maps. Some routes I saved for my honeymoon, so I could download them into the GPS.
- News - Nothing
- Profile - just my name
- Purchaes & Reservations - Ick, lots of data. I didn't know Google tracked this from my Gmail. Funnily enough, some of it is flight & hotel reservations for someone else who typo'd their email address. Going to look into how to purge & stop tracking this
- Remidners - the few I actually put in , yup
- Saved images - none
- Saved places - Bella Gelateria in Vancouver. Oh yeah, I did save that. Because we went there nearly every day when we were in Vancouver. Yum yum yum!
- Tasks - Just the few I put in before switching to Evernote
- Voice calls - I think I tried this ONCE back in 2011 via the chat app. It sucked and I never used it again. For some reason I have a $0.10 credit? Fuck you, Google, give me my money!
- Youtube subscriptions - Uhhh, it's just a HTML file that looks like the login page to the Google Accounts? I don't have any subscriptions, so I guess that's good? I have uploaded a few youtube videos, but they aren't here. That's because I took every step to keep my google account and youtube account separate. Yay, no browsing history associated with my account!
And finally a .mbox that's all my email including spam and trash that's 8GB
Overall, not bad. I wouldn't mind purging those location histories, but otherwise fairly OK.

Oh yeah, apparently that was broken. It did that for me too.
I guess the API to get that must have changed without them knowing.
-
@Lorne-Kates I should probably go through my stuff. From what I recall, when it finished generating it said Google Fit had a problem (as opposed to not having any data, which is what I would have expected). But anyway I don't think Google Fit is compatible with my fitness tracker, which is using a Sharpie marker to write the number 0 on my wrist.

Yeah, it said that for mine, too. I assume it's also a case of Google not being able to API with Google because Google changed Google's API without telling Google.

I thought at one point there was a way to change the data format from XML to JSON but now I can't find it.

That seems perfectly cromulent for me. There is an ocean of difference of how well one can sell himself to hr and their shitty selection processes and actual useful skills.

@Tsaukpaetra the bug fix is removing G+. The performance enhancement is without anything to connect to it will quickly perform its newly acquired function of telling you to uninstall this useless app.

It didn't need an update for that...

@Tsaukpaetra Yes, but now it delivers it much more performantly, as mentioned in the release notes for the new version.

True. Let me update and see if the spinner ever a finishes...
Edit: Aha!
You are correct! Also! Seems Google is done deleting to about three years ago, mostly some non-linked-photos posts.
