@Onyx It's essentially an Apple vs. Microsoft and Android proxy war. Apple clearly wants to bloat Unicode to the point where 220 code points won't be enough, in order to poison the UTF-16-reliant Windows and Java ecosystems.

I can, but I'm going to take a page from your book and decline to do so, because why should I expend effort for other people?

Considering that you were the first to bring up 'SJW's... what's your point?
"People who are interested in political correctness" then? Is that ok? The OP mentioned that in the title.
PC, or political correctness, is not synonymous with SJW's. Primarily SJW's are a group of people, PC is a descriptive term for language... it's an adjective.
So when you say: "People who are interested in political correctness", you're inserting the "people" part of it.
And when you say: "OMG EVIL SJWs STEALING OUR PRETTY PICTURES...", you're inserting the 'evil sjw's.
I'm not sure how "PC gone mad" turns into "EVIL SJWs STEALING OUR..."
@lordofduct said in Emojis - They are coming to get you. Or PC gone mad:
You were also the first to bring up defending rights.
Nope. "Censorship" and "banning" were said by other people first.
So, yes, kt did mention censor like 2 or 3 posts before the one I responded to. But pointing out that something was censored is not the same as calling out to defend rights. It's pointing it out.
And yes, it technically is censored.
Some media was going to be created, that media then was dropped because political groups called out against it.
That's... technically censorship. Not censorship on the "the big bad government made it illegal", but it's still suppression of media which many people will use the word censor for.
And as I said... that's not the same as demanding defense of our rights. kt didn't go "they censored us, rise up! we must defend our rights!"
@lordofduct said in Emojis - They are coming to get you. Or PC gone mad:
People thinking it's a ridiculous reason to drop an emoji is not tantamount to "tey took ar gurns".
I think that Apple's argumentation was ridiculous, and it actually having an effect on Unicode 9.0 even more so, but it's not "banning" or "censoring" anything.
OK, sure, you disagree with the semantics of a couple posts where some people used the words 'censor' and 'ban' loosely. Rather than in a strict "government making speech/media illegal" definition.
But again... that does not mean that they're demanding defense of our rights.
If I were to say that "your pedantry on the semantics is make my brain explode" does not mean my brain is actually exploding. And I'm certainly not saying we must defend ourselves against people exploding our brains with their pedantry. The context should be rather obvious.

It is very, very unclear to me how "sports" and "normal" would be differentiated in any meaningful way.
My rule of thumb is that a sport requires a ball. I am flexible enough on the definition of "ball" to allow for things like hockey pucks.
Does this help differentiate, by analogy, sports rifles and normal ones?

Also, that rule is there mostly to troll people about things that are borderline sports. Notice that it doesn't preclude golf, which would have to be the least athletic sport imaginable.

I don't think you know what 'sports' are then.
Sports are just competitive games, that's really all that's necessary. And even that is only the recent definition attached to it, the original middle english definition was merely 'entertainment, recreation'. To then divide sport up again... what then would you call boxing, track & field, dive, swimming, luge...

Aww, I get it, you're mistakening "sport" with "athletic sport".
Sport does not insist athleticism.
That's why there are "athletic sports", if sports were inherently athletic, then that phrase would be redundant.

Considering that the vast majority of "sports" do not involve balls... it's not a very good "rule of thumb".
