@Zerosquare it has a whole chapter about people who don't see missing deadlines as a big deal.

Whole chapter about me?

@DogsB well yeah: "Arguing with zombies by zombies" can be easily constructed from the title.

No convenient print form:

I imagine a series of 80 "The easy way to control..." books which people keep buying because the writing is so addictive.

I would recommend. Different from Hannu Rajaniemi's previous series (The Quantum Thief, also recommended). I was considering a short sentence about the story here, but pretty much anything would spoil things.

Been reading again (after decades!) through my copy of
(Except I have the first edition.)Some really good stuff in there. Provided you're into the details of algorithms and other CS things. I was particularly interested to see what was said on the costs of hash tables with chaining; I knew they were really good in practice, but I didn't know they were that good.

Deteriorata
This was published as a song, but that's bullshit. It's spoken word. Therefore, it is reading. Just, you're being read to.

@DogsB literature, like all drama, resides on a single pillar - either titties or loss can serve as this pillar.

Speaking of, @mott555 is the reader for the audiobooks of that series, which are coming out Soon, and he's also trying to port his plot management software from WPF to Avalonia so he can use it on Mac and Linux. I wish he'd post about that here though...

I liked the first book, but to me the series lost its appeal at book 3. YMMV

@Lathun will agree with this great selection.
And Part V is especially important. Title: "Venom".
With chapters like
Main Components of Spider Venoms
The Neurotoxic Mode of Action of Venoms from the Spider Family Theraphosidae
The Cytotoxic Mode of Action of the Venom of Cupiennius salei (Ctenidae)
The Evolution of a Toxic Enzyme in Sicariid Spiders
Predation by Spitting Spiders: Elaborate Venom Gland, Intricate Delivery System
and eventually
Spider Venoms Potentially Lethal to Humans
@Zerosquare You read it! You deserve that!

You deserve that!
Are you saying he deserves potentially lethal venom?
-
Yeah, no, thank you very much.
-
I'm now on book 3 in the series
(BTW: The authors are "J.N. Chaney & Terry Maggert")

Backyard Starship
The title of that reminds me a bit of:
Who wouldn't love a spaceship powered by beer?

Someone who'd prefer to drink the beer?

@DogsB you could have just read the newspapers in America, same effect

@DogsB The Invisible Sun trilogy, especially its first book, was even more catching for me. Felt like a new Halting State book, except with geopolitics instead of hackers.
