IsItServerCooties is an insignifcant place
-
So I was going to post in the 2016 prediction thread "I bet Discourse will have at least one bug while I post this". But I couldn't, because Discourse had one bug BEFORE I could post it, and crashed.
Checked Server Cooties, and the numbers read weird to me. Then I realized why:
-
Okay, so imperfect timing functions pulled 0.02 seconds out of the air...I still don't understand?
-
Maybe @accalia should make it say
15s (timeout)
or something?
-
Discourse new motto: "Not just your ordinary offline website, but a VERY offline website."

timing vagaries mean that soemtimes 15 seconds takes 10ms longer than it should?

hmm..... yeah that's doable i guess.though i would like to know exactly what confused @Lorne_Kates about the time values....

Presumably that an offline site had a 'response' time of 15s, when it didn't get a response it just timed out.
-
I thought he was irritated by "15 s" instead of "15.00 s"?
-
Oh, maybe that
-
actually 15 s would be more accurate than 15.01.
-

Try the DiscoRound option, it'll round all the numbers so they match. Eventually.
-

Yeah, it just looked weird seeing two different significant places. Maybe I should rename the thread title to "IsItServerCookies is not a significant place"?
Look, the forums were down and I had to complain about SOMETHING.
-
Try the DiscoRound option
Which currently appears to be broken (Windows 10, Chrome 47.numbers)
-
While you're digging around in there, somewhere before
data
gets tostatus_table
, throw in aresponseTime = responseTime.toFixed(2);
. Thanks.
-
This better?

Let me Discotime that for you:

Is it just me, or does the DiscoRound menu option not work?
-
seems to do something for me....
not sure if that's working or not though

Doesn't seem to do anything...

Before:
After selecting Discoround:
A few seconds later:
Seems perfectly WTFy to me.
ETA: Win 7, FF latest

Then, as @RaceProUK said, it doesn't work.
Not on Windows 10 with Chrome x64 47.numbers anyway.

Chrome on Linux, same deal. It also refuses to load cornify from an http source.
-
Really, if it waited 15 s and then timed out, the response time is "N/A" or "timed out", not "15 s".
-

I'm connecting by http so that works.
Clown vomit mode works too.

if you think it's so easy to do that, you fix it!
</fakerage>
seriously though, yeah there are a lot of things about that site that need fixing, problem is i was super lazy with the architecture on that and so it's rather shit once you look under the covers.
that and it's been working more or less untouched for almost a year now so.... well it's working, ne? kinda don't want to poke it to fix it and break something else and i really don't want to spend the time to do the complete rearchitecture (and probably port to express) that it needs.
-
i really don't want to spend the time to do the complete rearchitecture (and probably port to express) that it needs.
Only because you'd then have less time to shoot me in the face with homing missiles or put sticky bombs on anything I'm driving/flying

I'm connecting by http so that works.
I get there by clicking on the icon from @Onyx's chrome extension, which takes me to the https version.
Clown vomit mode works too.
That's the only one that does anything in my browser. Going to plain old http and cornify works.
-
Yeah, still need to sort out Cornify… either we convince the owner of Cornify to get an SSL cert, or we copy his code and images and host them ourselves.
-
You could just stick an Apache proxy in front of it and enable HTTPS on Apache

Shit, that thing as well... still needs a rewrite, I was just so out of things... Will try to squeeze it in this weekend, it's like a couple of hours of work to get it going and tested really (98% of that being setting up test cases, really).

only at the start. it's clean and pure at the end.
