You sure that wasn't me?

Do you live in Alabama?
It helps that more than three million Americans share my last name.
-
BTW, do you pronounce it like Jamie, or like high-may?
-
Just like Jamie... it pissed off my French teacher in high school.
-
Cool. I will correct my mental pronunciation
Oh, hey! Your name is probably likely to go up again in popularity in the next few years, as that's how Jaime Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire spells it.
-
Yes, there is enough in your post history to discard that

That made me happy when I saw it. Hopefully people will stop losing their minds when I spell it to them. Seriously, I understand that they need to be told that mine is not the common "Jamie" spelling, but I've seen people type some weird shit after I correct them. BTW, I try not to be a jerk about it - I only correct the spelling of my name if it seems vaguely important.

My first name is misspelled a lot too. It cracks me up when people misspell it in, say, emails, where my name is RIGHT THERE in front of you. Every time I say "I know it's spelled oddly, it's okay" people tell me "it's not that weird", but they misspell it anyway. So... apparently it's weird?
Hence why I publish under "Jane". Everyone can spell Jane.

So's your nick on here, and trust me, that's a tough one.

Point :) I basically learned how to spell Maciej during Mafia round 1, due to Club Dead.

I used to have that problem with my last name. Perhaps three other people in the country had the same surname - so I'm pretty used to having to spell it out. After spelling it out, people would typically find me in their database or whatever, though.
Now ... I moved to place where the last name seems to be relatively common. It trips me up every time when people ask me for my name, I tell them, and then they look at me questioningly. My first reaction is always to start spelling out the name, when they're instead looking for the ZIP or something else that helps them separate out me from the masses.
I hate it. It's my name, dammit!

My full name is so common there are multiple homonymous in the same city. Once the newspaper mentioned one of them was shot and several people phoned my family to see if everything was OK.
