I just hope cloud isn't the endgame unless latency disappears one day.
The speed of light laughs at you.
My ISP denies any kind of speed.
-
@dcon No, they market an "up to" speed. Real speed <= advertised speed. 0 <= advertised speed. QED.

Tim collected vast amounts of geolocation data from their customers every few minutes, even when not using the app. What is the detailed tracking of your every movement worth? A coffee and a donut.

Quantum entanglement might be laughing, but you're afraid it will stop if you look at it.
I don't think anyone's ever exhibited information transfer faster than the speed of light by quantum entanglement. Or any other mechanism (there have been a few claims, but they've never actually included information transfer).

With sentences like this:
1.59 milliseconds shaved off the usual 24-hour spin
It seems nobody reporting on this actually knows what they’re talking about (), because
- each spin takes 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds (86164 s)
- solar days swing between 21 seconds shorter and 29 seconds longer than 24 hours, every single year
Presumably it’s 1.59 ms off ~86164.091 s, but I didn’t dig long enough to find an original source.

A victory for Big Noodle! Coming next season on Swamp People.
Looking forward to it.

That's true solar days. There is also mean solar day that is the sidereal day (one rotation) plus a proportional fraction to subtract the one rotation per year. That is the 24 hours—plus a little bit these days, because while Earth might have just had a shortest day, it is very slightly slowing down on average (due to tidal forces).
Presumably it’s 1.59 ms off ~86164.091 s, but I didn’t dig long enough to find an original source.
Presumably yes. The mean solar day is calculated, so that's not what the immediate measurement would be based on.

@Dragoon Meh. The best "fiber supplement" is what it's always been: eat your fruits and veggies. There are very few meals that can't be improved by adding either a piece of fruit or a salad.
-
yeah:
“It doesn’t need to be a supplement either,” Holmes added. “It can just be a fiber-rich food. Folks who were already eating a lot of fiber, which comes from plants like beans, leafy greens, and citrus, already had very healthy microbiomes.”

Conan Doyle later remarked that this was his personal favorite exchange between the two characters.

The gigabit fiber is definitively faster than the 100Mbit/s one. So it does matter. And you can't always just get more fiber connections either.

Sounds like a serious case of fiber deficiency. I don't think copper is a good substitute, but I am also not a dietician.

Yeah. When I moved, Gbit fiber was supposed to be available in 25% of my city. The AT&T customer disservice misrepresentative told me it was available in my neighborhood. It's not.
-
@HardwareGeek Any way you could take them to court in an attempt to compel installation in your neighborhood, citing reliance interest?
-
@Mason_Wheeler Probably not. It was a phone conversation, and I don't have any proof of what was said. Edit: Also, I think contract disputes like this have a statute of limitations of one year from the discovery of the breach, and it's been much longer than that.
-
@HardwareGeek Also, it would involve
slime moldlawyers . Better stay away from that.

So... just call it the Gilbert & Rose Stand, and a day.
Honestly, any damage sustained from the combination of words "Rose West Stand" is entirely self-inflicted.
-
@Applied-Mediocrity Now that I think about it, most spiders would probably die from a paintball marker hit. Or even an airsoft BB.

@acrow Yes, but you'll have to shoot at least twice or use birdshot if they have the Deflect Arrows feat.

@Applied-Mediocrity Airsoft guns tend to come with large magazines. 80 BBs is a normal magazine. And if you can stand the rattling, this one takes 400 BBs. Keeps the gun fed for almost half a minute of continuous fire:
