it'd get stopped by the authorities because "racist", for speaking truth to power.
What, are your jobs getting stolen by Mexicans or something like that?
INB4 yes.
Nah. The immigration-related crime wave problem. And tax-money being sent to Africa in increasing quantities while basic public services like the police, schools and medical care are all but totally run down. And rivers getting polluted by the "greenest" government yet. You know, the usual...
Finland's humanitarian aid 2018: 75 M€
You'd make for a better American if you'd rant that public healthcare is communism. It feels kind of weak without that.

@acrow That's a completely different set of problems and doesn't allow you to cast aspersions on all politicians. I mean, seriously: One party does something wrong and you promptly proceed to shit on all of them.
Your attitude is precisely what is wrong with people today: Instead of holding the people to account who actually do something wrong, you'd rather blame all and everything. Both sides and all that shit.
-
@Rhywden said in In other news today...:
One party does something wrong
Correction: One party is allowed to do something very wrong. A small party that wouldn't have any effect whatsoever if the polls hadn't predicted a very even result.
Read before you rant.

Oh, good. You're shown to be wrong so you shift the goal posts and the blame. Yeah, that's definitely @acrow's fault.
-
@acrow "Increasing".
Yeah.
Doesn't look very "increasing" to me. And it's a more honest depiction than using absolute numbers.

Add the next years, maybe?:
2019: €989 Million (1)
2020: €1037 Million (2)The previous government had just managed to decrease that expenditure a bit. The new one reversed that decision first thing.

You know, inflation and all that jazz.

What's honest numbers then? Percentage of GDP? That goes:
2018: 0,36
2019: 0,41
2020: 0,42 (according to just accepted budget)And I should mention that the current government has a goal of 0.7% of GDP for foreign aid?

Fascinating.
But you never answered ny question about the I could get kettlecorn if you prefer a sweeter snack?
-
@Vixen I dunno. That box looks like something you'd find at a movie theater, and the stuff those places serve up is awful. Their "butter" is a toxic chemical soup that I really don't want to ingest. So I'll have to respectfully decline your invitation.
-
@Mason_Wheeler i cannot help the digital representation this Forum has chosen. But I promise you my popcorn is only the finest air popped yellow corn popcorn, with real melted butter and just a hint of salt. I would be happy to make a batch omitting the butter if you prefer, or even add some cheese and hot peppers as some enjoy. Alas the glory that is my popcorn is rendered as by this forum, however hard I try to indicate mine is better than that.
Still, I must respect your decision and will desist in trying to convince you. If you find yourself changing your mind later you have only to ask. Until then, enjoy life!

I guess they don't consider all money sent to foreign countries as "humanitarian" aid. There's also "development aid" and whatnot. I don't really care what name it goes under.

That number is so high, it definitely sounds like it's the source of all your problems.
It's on par with the yearly budget for the police (798 Million in 2019). Considering that the police has insufficient resources to even start investigating crimes lower than armed robbery right now (i.e. regular robberies never get investigated in themselves, but may only be solved if the robber is caught for other reasons), I'd say that money has better uses.
Didn't you also complain about immigration? Don't you want that humanitarian aid so those people stay away?
Immigration is better kept in check with proper border control.
I'd be fine with this getting Jeffed away or shutting up about it. Mod's call.

Preemptive Bloomberg
France Set to Roll Out Nationwide Facial Recognition ID Program
France is poised to become the first European country to use facial recognition technology to give citizens a secure digital identity -- whether they want it or not.
Saying it wants to make the state more efficient, President Emmanuel Macron’s government is pushing through plans to roll out an ID program, dubbed Alicem, in November, earlier than an initial Christmas target. The country’s data regulator says the program breaches the European rule of consent and a privacy group is challenging it in France’s highest administrative court. It took a hacker just over an hour to break into a “secure” government messaging app this year, raising concerns about the state’s security standards.None of that is deterring the French interior ministry.
