"The last time we had an object this big or bigger pass this close to Earth was ... in 2001.
Maybe for an object this size, but just last year we had
An asteroid the size of a box truck made one of the closest passes of planet Earth ever recorded.
The small near-Earth asteroid, called 2023 BU, zipped over the southern tip of South America at 7:27 p.m. ET Thursday about 2,200 miles (3,540 kilometers) above Earth’s surface. This distance was well within the orbit of global satellites.

@Zecc I've read some time ago about adding googly eyes to driverless cars, but those were intended to move towards the closest person the system registers so that person would know the car's system knows about them and won't run over them. But these appear to be just stickers on driverful trains. So why .

@Bulb Why not?

@Bulb
Everyone knows that googly eyes make you more personable and promotable.

I'm not sure if there might be a better topic for this, maybe, but I'll drop it here anyway.
Customer Sued Over Huge Tip To Waitress
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf9iGuWFFv0TL;DW:
A customer left an unusually big tip for his waitress — $3000 tip for a $13 meal.Why would the restaurant sue him for this?
The restaurant manager (or someone on the staff) questioned him about it. "Did you really intend to leave such a big tip for an inexpensive meal?" "Yes, I did." Ok, thank you very much sir.
Then he changed his mind and disputed the charge with the credit card company. After the restaurant had paid the waitress the $3000. They are now suing him for the $3000 they paid.
Is their claim valid? After all, tips are voluntary.
Well, that's for the court to decide, of course, but there is a valid legal basis for it: Promissory estoppel. He made a promise (payment of $3000) on which they relied to their detriment (paid the staff $3000). This is a (verbal) contract, and he (allegedly) didn't uphold his obligation under that contract.

Well, I, for one, am delighted that a product refresh is considered a game-changer for a company that prides itself on innovation.
