actively hostile to them on the internet
Well, anecdotal evidence would suggest that's the ticket to getting shit done if you want to get them to listen too. You just need to COMPLAIN loud enough...

Another extremely helpful message: “You bitch!”. And I’m not joking about that one either
Pics or it didn't happen

Not good enough?

EFL needs Jesus.
Not sure if it would be a good career choice for him. He might have to give up on that "omnipotent" title.

Shit, and we'd need to change the error messages.
REPENT!

Thank you @Carsten_Haitzler!

Wow. Just wow.
There was a NTTP relay in the works, maybe that could help

TRWTF.

I smell the beginnings of the Streisand effect.
-
Hahaha holy shit.

Wow. Just wow.
Maybe Carsten's paymaster just finished working out how many billable hours it took him to compose that opus.

The like was not enough.

Jesus, seriously? Hahaha. I'm like the villain in Galaxy Quest, "Carsten_Haitzler has already done more damage (trolling) than I could ever hope to!"

Another interesting note: Carsten Haitzler is not a Principal Engineer. His work title is "Master".

Master
Or, for those more familiar with new Doctor Who

Are his underlings supposed to pronounce it "Marshter" and walk hunched over?

Haitzler's gotta hait.

I think a Meltdown badge is appropriate.

I think a Meltdown badge is appropriate.
I've not changed my opinion since this:
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/enlightened/8795/274?u=pjh
...for @Carsten_Haitzler, that is...
-
Wait, are you awaiting our approval of that?
I honestly thought, you awarded the badge already. What is keeping you?Filed Under: Do we need to flag somebody for that badge now?

Do we need to flag somebody for that badge now?
No. Was just waiting to see if he'd hang around long enough to make it worthwhile.
-
Might as well do it anyway. Like when they give medals to people posthumously. You know, it's a nice gesture and all that. Also, written in the history of the forum.
-
Meh. Done.

No. Was just waiting to see if he'd hang around long enough to make it worthwhile.
I think he has trouble coming back more often, after the whole firewall thing.
Filed Under: But you awarded him anyway. Good going :D

From the [documentation][1]:
DO NOT use this function unless you are the person God comes to ask for advice when He has trouble managing the Universe.
Maybe you can integrate the EFL event loop into your own with [ecore_main_loop_select_func_set][2]? Maybe, but:
Warning: you don't know how to use, don't even try to use it.

Is that autogenerated and comes from
ecore_egoism
?

Are you tough enough to use this function? Do you have the what it takes? Do you? You wouldn't dare!

While (were I so foolish as to use EFL in the first place, which I'm not) I do actually know how to use
ecore_main_loop_iterate
andecore_main_loop_select_func_set
, I also know that the first is usually a very bad idea, and the second is vastly deep voodoo and would require the consumption of several months output of the Netherlands finest coffee houses to persuade me to touch with a barge pole (whether 10' long or otherwise). The warning on
ecore_main_loop_iterate
is excessive. The one onecore_main_loop_select_func_set
is not.

I swear to god, I'm reading through this thread and the argument between @Carsten_Haitzler and everyone else (particularly that whole "BITCH" vs "you bitch" grep stupidity), and this is the theme currently playing in my head while I do so:

New error messages for @sockbot
Ugh. Bad @accalia. No cookie for you. (I have 400+ posts still on this thread, so I may not see any reply you make right away because i don't want to lose my place)

Are you
BITCHCOMPLAINing about @accalia's new @sockbot messages?

@sloosecannon has summoned me, and so I appear.
-
Now, if we could just get yellow boxing glove guy back.
Maybe we can get him to come back into this thread and join the fun on our side, this time.
-
as for the spank spank - i'd be just fine that being in public or in a meeting with management etc.
That's wildly unprofessional, by the way. In every corporate environment I've ever worked[1], you'd be told not to do that. One guy I worked with put "Dammit!" in a "did we get here" message box that was accidentally released, and asked to cut that out. Fortunately it was in internal application and the only people who ever saw it were in the same company.
[1]The one exception was where the inmates were more or less running the asylum.
-
I don't believe you.
He might be telling the truth. Some people don't understand why their behavior is objectionable. Others--and I'm not suggesting Carston is--don't care.
-
there was no "you " in front of the "bitch". and as i have said
If I were in your position and "you bitch" came back with nothing, I would have searched for "bitch" in case "you bitch" wasn't what was actually seen.

Small update: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Bodhi-Enlightenment-Fork
TL;DR: Author of one of the random Linux distros with Enlightment, that nobody really uses, found that E is getting even more shitty than it is right now, and forked it's old version, to save the project. That really says a lot of the quality of this project.
But hey, Tizen will show everyone who's the boss, right?

He had to go back because his developers wanted to be called bitch and that was patched...

A dev-spankin' new FOSS project!
-
I feel bad about it now.
I mean, TDWTF made world a more polite place? Not sure if it was us Doing It Wrong™ or the world is worse off than I thought...
-
I really love imagining this scene:
G = Gruntworker, P = Projectleader.
G: "Hey P, we recently updated our version of EFL... and now I can't work anymore".
P: "Oh god, what is wrong? Did something in the code break? Does it have a leak?"
G: "No, No, nothing of that sort... well nothing I noticed.
P: "Hm, okay. So, what is the problem?"
G: "I am not sure how to tell you this... but the enviourment is just not the same anymore."
P: "What? Somebody played with the enviourment parameters? Let's find the one responsible and fire him/her!"
G: "No, No! It's just that the whole atmosphere is different now. You see, back in the old version, EFL always called me a bitch whenever I did something wrong and spanked me for stuff. It stopped doing that so now I don't know if I did something wrong.
All it does it complain all day. I really can't work like this. I'm sorry, but if this version stays I am leaving!"
P: "Hm... let me see what I can do!"Filed Under: You can probably replace EFL with wife somewhere in there but thats just a coincidence... I think
